The idea of rocking up to an airport spontaneously and buying a ticket to get on a plane leaving in fifteen minutes, as if it were a local bus, and that the whole process from door to door would be meaningfully faster than four hours, is completely culturally illegible to those of us living in the glorious future

people in france protest the exact same way as in the arab spring, but while the european ivory tower media criticized middle eastern governments for their crackdown of protest and praised the revolution, suddenly when the same protests happen in europe they're violent and not right.

interesting how that works. resistence is always justified, not just when europe supports it for economic reasons.

I always look behind me when I am out in the woods to visually memorize the path for when I got back, to check if some wildlife is following me (cougars) and to look at the view. I'm glad I did earlier this week or I would have missed this.

I stopped by my daughter's house on the way home from the protest today.
She was off volunteering for the Breast Health Project.
The beautiful hand crafted wood gate to the garden was locked.
I could only see what any random passer-by might see.
I took a photo of the best blossom in her front yard and one teasing the abundance of blossoms in the backyard just out of my reach.

This IS the US #invasion, folks, and it is time we call it what it is.

It looks like a #referendum about whether #Albertans want to 'stay in Canada.' But it is actually a Test to see if #Canada will withstand the massively funded propaganda machine that the United States is blasting at #Alberta as a Hail Mary to crack our democracy and steal our oil while their inflation is soaring, bolstered by Russia which used the same tactics on Crimea and the Donbas, Brexit, and the 2016 US election, among many others.

End this madness. A vote to #leave is a vote to stroll directly into the lion's mouth and to weaken one of the world's great and now-leading voices in the still democratic West against the well funded and encroaching forces of autocracy and oligarchy. As much as we all know there are frustrations, things to improve, and better ways to be a country, this foreign power will see to it that none of us get that chance. And they will not lay off their forces of #misinformation and #propaganda until Canadians give them the boot.

No ground based invasion of Canada can be effective, and they know it. They have to 'crack' us first, by invading our airwaves and electronic media with their poison. It worked for Russia after they invaded Crimea then bombarded the Donbas with propaganda well in advance of the tanks. The US and its illiberal allies are hoping with the tarriffs and all the negative ads on Facebook that all they have to do is sit back and wait for us to shoot ourselves in the face. It is a well laid plan.

Fellow #Canadians, my dear neighbours in #Alberta, do not be fooled by the techniques that have tumbled Western democracies around the world, using #Big :Tech infrastructures to direct targeted messaging and change minds. They stole your voter list precisely so that they can target your neighbours with floods of 'content' paid for by those who would topple our country, take your inheritance and your children's hope of prosperity and safety with them to further engorge their pockets. This is Cambridge Analytica on steroids, the preface to the invasion.

To this day, not a single one of Mom's super religious friends has done anything to help our family; even after being informed she almost died & is living with cancer now. You know who has actually helped Mom/our family, offline?
People who don't go to churches at all. People whom super religious folks would deem as heathens/sinners against God.
Yet, those so called heathens showed the most humanity & zero hypocrisy, during my family's time of serious needs. They just called/came by to help/support us. There's not many but we're grateful for those golden, kindhearted souls.

My generation grew up knowing that Europe and the US stood together to defeat Hitler.
