Ughhhhhhhhh not looking forward to laying out the cash for a new 2ds xl

There’s really nobody that makes something just like the teenage engineering op-1 are there?

So I live in Kansas, and we have an awful do nothing Senator Roger Marshall on the Rs and he’s going up against a megachurch pastor Adam Hamilton on the Ds side this fall and his ads are cartoonishly awful. He’s laughably unpopular and trying to find a way to frame attack ads against a Christian pastor has contorted his message beyond any believability.

Like this dude is *scared* and I find his fear *delicious*.

I am not an ai/LLM booster, but I just wanted to point out that changes in technology have always changed human cognition, because human cognition is extremely energy intensive and the body doesn’t want to do it if it doesn’t have to.

If I brought someone from a pre-literate society, the difference in the ability to memorize things between them and us would shock you and appall them. You don’t need to remember things, so your brain generally doesn’t.

I continue to be skeptical that LLM tools will make everyone dumber.

Hey, @joel, would you be able to work up a quick logo for me? On the clock, of course

Maybe we should spend October playing castlevania

You know. As a treat.

Ok so I really enjoyed Gideon the Ninth because it was a spooky murder mystery novel with lesbians, and I’m having a hard time with Harrow and now Nona the Ninth because they’re both extremely character driven and both characters have brain damage and if I finish Nona the Ninth and Alecto the Ninth, the final upcoming book, ALSO has brain damage I’m going to have a cow.

My ancestral curse has final taken hold of my body and I am forced to give up one of the things I hold dearest in this world…

(My hypertension has gotten steadily worse with age and I now have to limit my caffeine intake)

Does anyone here do modchip installation for the PS2 slim? I’m out of my depth and I’d rather work with a fedizen than some rando on Etsy. #mod #modding #ps2 #retrogaming #retro #hardmod

So I think the Ocarina of Time is a good game that is fun to play, and I’m even the right age to feel maximally nostalgic about it, but I really don’t get the goofiness over the remake.

Like you’ve gotten 15 versions of OoT and nobody has remade Jak and Daxter even ONCE

I believe in the power of crystals to decorate my space and remind me of the creativity of God and all the beautiful things He hid in the earth, just waiting for us to stumble on them.

Sometimes I wonder about people.

I spend a bit of time on Bsky for some algo action from time to time. Right now, a lot of people are super stoked to go spend big money on a special, Legend of Zelda themed Switch 2 console. And it looks cool, don’t get me wrong.

If what you want is a beautiful piece of art in your room, hell if what you want is a beautifully themed custom console in your room, there’s this profession that exists called a “painter” and they could probably give you better (meaning, more meaningful to you) results and save you a lot of money.

Also, fine art painters need the work 😅

They’re multiplying.

Is there a German word for the grief one feels, while reading, of being utterly sure you will never be as good a writer as the person you are reading?

Ursula K Le Guin makes me feel that way.

If American car companies are so intent on not making an affordable electric sedan, the least they could do is let the Chinese sell us them

Wendell Berry died today.

I’m going to have to spend all day tomorrow not buying a computer, in his honor.

I think I may have fixed a 25 year old PDA with battery acid damage with… scotch tape? We’ll see 😂

So, like, this is a cold take on fedi. But. It’s such a Silicon Valley brainrot thing to

1) have a “good” idea that’s only good if you ignore the fact that it violates the social contract in egregious fashion, like hiding cameras inside of a pair of glasses.

2) act surprised that your product is extremely popular with people who also want to break the social contract. Insist it’s a normal product for normal people, like your ceo. He’s so normal!

3) make money off sex pests. Enjoy money. Pretend your customers don’t suck.

I need to know if anyone in my extended social network knows a real life person who bought meta smart glasses just so that they could record candid moments with their kids or friends. I’m not convinced they exist. The best legitimate use I’ve seen of them have been contractors and mechanics using them to document their time in people’s homes, a job that absolutely could be done by any action cam on the market.
