Along the Erie Canal yesterday.

Bridge eye candy.

The big mystery, to me, was how do these bridges move out of the way for boats? No visible gears, pivots, or hydraulics. Turns out I’d photographed a decommissioned one permanently raised earlier in the day and hadn’t realized it.
Oh, stairs are for pedestrians to cross while it’s raised.

Some inorganic sights.

Yesterday’s ride was 78 miles (125km), maybe my longest. Flat trail, smooth gravel, and tail winds. Only slowed down to take photos.

Also, honorable mention to this prehistoric flintstonian articulated bridge.

A lot of photos from today’s ride, but this Heron deserves highlight for dramatic backdrop.

It finally got light out.

It’s me, waiting for sunrise so I can ride my bike.

My wish for searching in map apps in 2027: an option to not change the map. Can’t find something? Fine, say so, maybe offer zoom out button. I am hiking or biking and trying to find nearby food/lodging/etc and do not want to move the map back to my carefully positioned view after you’ve messed it up showing sponsored results 70 miles away.

Flashback to September 2025 on a AT section hike when I met this little hiker.

For the final trick, a waxed chain!

Took a quick, fully loaded test ride on gravel, pavement, up/down hills and it is eerie how quiet it is.

I ordered a pre-waxed chain to see how goes. Future me can figure out how to maintain it.

It must be lug. Lug, lug.

No "what's in my bags" video, but here's a LighterPack page to put things in their proper place and track weights.
