This morning. #SalemMA

Soggy donkey weather.

I kinda like it.

As for the donkeys, it makes them rather frisky.

Can we all agree that 2020 was a weird fucking year?

Make art for yourself even if it’s “bad”

What if we just didn't make fun of what people looked like

(or their size, or ability, or hair or clothes or makeup or plastic surgery even or any of that shit)

Because actually what matters is what you say and what you do

words

and

actions

and their impact on other people

So yeah, I'm not counting on a blue wave here in #Minnesota. I sort of feel like the Democratic Party is celebrating too soon. I think this election is going to be a lot closer than people expect. We need to understand the forces working against us and take them seriously. We thought our vibes would carry us through in 2024. I don't want us to make that same mistake again.

Ha, so it seems one score has escaped my packing!

It's my study score of Mahler 2. I got to hear NZSO do it back somewhere 2017-2018ish iirc., and it was such an awesome experience. Just a stunning control of texture and space using a truly massive orchestra, all with such economical writing.

It was one of the reasons I chose to study composition as much as I did at uni, and for that reason it's the only orchestral study score I own. Even though I may be more of a Bruckner fan, Mahler 2 is one of the best symphonies ever written.

This election (like every election) is a contest between two ideas: extraction vs investment.

The idea that you should be planting trees whose shade you will never sit beneath OR we should cut down that tree now because there’s a quid in it.

Removing the concrete now

I know I’ve shared some cryptid-quality cell phone vids of the bobcats/kittens who occasionally visit behind my house, but have I shared my favourite pictures I’ve taken with my actually decent camera? #Wildyard #BogLife #Catstodon

Ok, I've done it: I ordered a refubrished Thinkpad X270 for NetBSD (and maybe HaikuOS ... I haven't decided if dualboot or qemu on top of NetBSD). It will be a hard ride to install with encrypted partitions and b/c I never used NetBSD before. But it has to be done.

Due to insufficient internet access, I was unable to post my rides the last couple days as I travelled for my annual camping trip with my brother.
On Monday, I rode the short Heritage Trail in Madison Indiana and the street adjacent to the Ohio River, and then across the river and along the River on the Kentucky side and back for 12 miles. I had intended to ride from the Clifty Falls State Park until I realized it had a very steep climb from the river valley.

Sam Altmanis upset someone left a recording device in his conference room. I guess he forgot to explicitly opt out of data collection for marketing and training purposes

On Tuesday, I rode the I&M Canal State Trail from La Salle Illinois to Buffalo Rock State Park and back for 22 miles. It follows the towpath of the canal that has been out of use for nearly a century; there is water in some parts, but there is vegetation in other parts. The trail is crushed rock and deteriorated asphalt in short stretches, and muddy in others so it was a bit rough. My gravel bike was the right one to use. The Illinois River is close by at some points.
