One-time. 5%. Only on fortunes over $1 billion.

That's California's Prop 40. It's expected to raise about $100 billion to replace the health care money Washington cut.

Props 41 and 42 exist to kill it.

Yes on 40. No on 41 and 42.

The other day I saw a viral toot with screenshots of a Blue Sky post saying (paraphrased) "WHY ISN'T THE US MEDIA COVERING WHAT'S HAPPENING IN ALBANIA??"

People seemed concerned about it in the replies and were favoriting and boosting the toot of the screenshot of Blue Sky.

Meanwhile, we're 4 hours into the latest wrinkle of the protest in Albania, which I toot links to daily, and I don't really see the same engagement people feel around screenshotted BlueSky posts...

I do wonder why that is and why we're like that.

The stats are in... During Banned Books Week a small number of real people downloaded our free EPUB/PDF offerings. Thank you to those who may enjoy the books!

But 905 downloads were by Apple & Claude bots, plus a few other crawler bots.

Well, hmmm. Fuck that shit.

We'll always give away books to good homes, just ask. We won't be doing any more free-for-alls, even for #BBW. We'd rather not feed the plagiarism slop factories.

Hello fediverse! Feels nice to finally be here. :3

I'm known as Reimu on this corner of the Internet. As is apparent, I'm a big fan of the Touhou Project series of games. I haven't been in the community for that long (about 2 years), but it's kinda become the only real fandom I'm in.
I've been programming mostly in Python for the past 4 years. I've been managing a server network for 6 years now, which comprises of 6 servers and hosts stuff for me and my friends.
This isn't my first time on here, but I hope I'll actually meet and get to talk to some nice people this time around. Yayy!

I know I normally do my shameless self-promotion on thursdays, but I forgot this week.

So I am doing it now. Please consider backing my currently-running publishing Kickstarter. You'd be helping me bring over a decade of work to a close, as well as helping a frankly struggling artist get something resembling a "start".

Tell us a random, interesting fact about your WIP.

It was supposed to be one book, but now it's four.

Season of the Bluebonnets is kind of a running history of Ardonna, which ties all the other books together & expands on the world. If you've read the others you might find it fun & interesting. If you haven't, you could always enter the world from the south, instead of the north.

Fell into the lavender haze, where the jacarandas do the dreaming for you. 🌸

Talk about a real-life creature that seems especially weird/alien/haunted/intriguing to you.

Aye-ayes are pretty alien looking. I have a stuffed one that's cute and cuddly though.

Do you feel you do your best creative work completely solitary, working collaboratively with one or more people, or working near but not with other people?

I'm a solitary writer, but I do collaborate with an editor later. That works best for me.

How do you feel about people reading your works without buying a personal copy?

Getting it from a library? Great!
Getting a copy from a friend who purchased an ebook? Fine. Please review
Pirating? Feels frustrating after all the effort & money I spent to put out a good book, plus they don't cost much. They can at least make an effort to leave a review somewhere so other people might buy it.
I currently have one of my books available to read for free on my site.

"Long ago, a mad god almost destroyed the world..." ERIK (Sons of Ymre #1) is $2.99USD in ebook through these retailers, until 10/18.

BY THE WAY - If you are an indie author who has a cover you don't like anymore and would like an illustrated one, I would love to refresh your book with new art!

My prices are affordable, I offer part payments, never ghost my clients, keep you on the loop of what's happening, and genuinely love hearing tidbits about your stories to make the art look like you. <3

Help! My boomer brother is interested in the fediverse, but he's not loving mastodon.social. Help me get him on a new instance, please.

Greg is an MBA/Engineer. A rare breed that knows how to make things work. He once worked in a factory where the engineers were told to get permission before posting Dilbert comics on their door. So yes, he understands irony. Politically, I'd say he leans left, but then, I'm to the left of Bernie Sanders. He sucks at pinball, but denies it. He knows how and does use the public library. He likes fiction, popular economics, and science fiction. If he likes furry romances, he hasn't said so. Where can he find a fedi-home?
