Europe needs to close their US military bases as soon as possible, because they are no longer friendly and present a significant security risk to the continent.
I don't know a LOT about farming, but I was sure I knew where eggs come from.
Nearby, other midges that did not look like spiders were being eaten by spiders. Phidippus audax, the bold jumper.
Spiders generally avoid each other, so a potential prey item that manages to trick a spider could be safe.
Found a midge this morning, Goeldichironomus carus, that appears to mimic a jumping spider. #Insects #Chironomidae
Interesting paper. Commercially available native seed mixes for pollinators are baised towards summer blooming species, leaving the important spring flowers under-represented. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/rec.14352

Anyway. Forbidden knowledge makes the whole thing much more appealing.
Also removed: a passage describing abortion in Arawak women.
Zinn is blunt about the genocide, which in broad picture is left in. But left out are the graphic depictions of Columbus's thugs hunting people with dogs, the beheading of children, sex slavery.
The 7th grader was unmotivated to read her history homework this afternoon. Zinn's chapter on Columbus, edited a bit.
But it turns out if you introduce her to the original, unedited version alongside the school's edit, seeing what the school decided to leave out was *fascinating*

Find the cat.
One of the first ant species to be formally described, by Linneaus himself in 1758, is Formica fusca. I finally got a photograph of one last week in Frankfurt.
