LOL my app for CW Innovations ICR class was denied because I don't have >30W rig?

Maybe QRP won't work but 20W should be plenty. Extra 10W barely moves the needle.

Leaves me with a negative feeling abt them, TBH. Heard good things but the gatekeeping is a complete turnoff. 3 months on waitlist just to "apply" and then this rejection?

I've no plans for a more powerful radio anytime soon..I use CW to get the most out of my 20W so that I don't NEED more!

I guess I'll keep self-teaching, thanks.

I found some time to play #hamRadio for awhile.

Will I break my #hamRadio dry spell this weekend? We shall see. I may have a break in my schedule Saturday night or sometime on Sunday. I will try to remember to post on here.

Last night I played #offTheAir #amateurRadio by working on a QSL card design. I don’t know how often I will send them but I want to be prepared.

My son does cross-country mountain bike racing. Distances and terrain should not be too much trouble, and the courses are not very remote - there is usually cellular service available.

I would love if I could figure out his location using my phone (iPhone but I could potentially pick up a cheap android device for this purpose if necessary).

It seems like it might be pretty easy to put a #hamradio #amateurradio #aprs or perhaps #lora tracker on my son’s bike to be able to track where he is on a race course but I am having a tough time figuring out what I would need to do that.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good how-to?

Random letter blocks of increasing length was very helpful to me, and I'd like to do same with whole words but all tools I have are either random single words OR entire sentences/QSOs/news articles.

I'd like something where I can start with two random words and build up.

I use iOS and web apps but if you know an Android app feel free to mention for others.

Yes antennas can be simple and inexpensive and easy to build. But when I bought my HF rig this year I also bought a commercial antenna so that I could have some assurance that everything should just work and if it doesn’t it’s not because of a faulty piece of homebrew equipment. Now I have a “known good” baseline where I can experiment with different antennas (or radios or feedlines or …) and compare the result.

I called CQ on #cw for the first time tonight.

When I heard someone answer I was so startled that I very nearly just switched off the radio instead of working them 😂
