Thousands of student protesters clashed with riot police in Albania, partly over a luxury resort deal backed by Jared Kushner.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama rejected calls to resign as protesters smashed windows and police fired tear gas and water cannons in Tirana for a third straight day. Protesters are angry about corruption, the cost and quality of education and a deal to sell off parts of Albania’s southern coastline for a Kushner-backed resort development. “Our prime minister is the meaning of the word corruption,” one student said. The resort has faced legal challenges, and Reuters reported that a man who sold land for the project was wanted on drug trafficking charges, though it found no evidence of wrongdoing by Kushner.

Parliament canceled its session as the violence spread.
