"The problem with the Agile methodology" is that it doesn't exist. Somebody should have mentioned that before you "implemented" it.

@jasongorman I am of the opinion Agile Development was a relaunch of Rapid Application Design with more macho terminology

@OldWoofian RAD is fundamentally quite different. It creates rough working prototypes for rapid user feedback on which we can draw for the design of a production-ready version.

When the customer says "Yes, that's what I want", we have nothing we'd be confident shipping. It'd be like leaving the tailor's wearing a suit held together by pins.

In Agile Software Development, every prototype (iteration) is production-ready.

When the customer says "Yes, that's what I want", the suit's ready to wear

@jasongorman Yep that is a fundamental difference.

I was referring to the fallacy that Users know what they want. My experience is that often they only have a very narrow and parochial view of requirements and how they integrate into business needs.

It's been a while since I got involved in application development, does Agile Dev code not get passed through integration and production testing? If it does then doesn't that meet the Test teams have to constantly retest every little change?

@OldWoofian There are.no test teams in Agile Software Development. Testing is a continuous activity. The software's being tested usually many times an hour.

@jasongorman Wow. How times have changed. I am retired now, but I would never trust a development team to do that.

From bitter experience my cynical view is that small development teams, particularly those from big consultancies, only want to do the least amount of work for maximum profit and care not if what they create cause information management including master data management and GDPR problems.

In a small business perhaps that OK, but large organisations, definitely not
