@Netraven @davidrevoy It's usually in other contexts, but part of what makes me sad here is that "wizard" is related to wisdom, and the ancient stories about wizards are about people who could do amazing things because of their profound understanding of the world.
And a lot of the jokes about computer wizards are that kind of idea. They could do things with computers because they understand computers.
But they're giving it up. They want to get on with casting fireball without having to understand fire.

@Netraven @davidrevoy Also I just noticed the bit about PyroCircus and PyroCorona in the lower left of the chalkboard, which looks a lot like some things written on the notepad on my desk.

@foolishowl from my experiences playing D&D variants over the years, and also working im tech, everyone wants to get on with casting fireball without the understanding of it. No doubt that's a big factor in the entire AI ecosystem design and evolution. @Netraven @davidrevoy

@draNgNon @foolishowl @Netraven @davidrevoy "Wait, Fireball has a 15' radius and harms any member of the party within that radius too?"

@mathew @draNgNon @foolishowl @davidrevoy cast all the fireballs you want, just don't build the fireball that bankrupts the world while destroying it ecologically at the same time. That's a scroll of genocide, or something.
(my experience consists solely of Nethack, obviously.)
