Oct 12, 2026, 10:54 PM@Purple I think the one place I've seen drinking fountains is in the Frankfurt Airport. They're non-existent elsewhere.
I tried finding an answer a couple times, but the best I can find is a vague agreement that it's historical (post-war), and related to why there's a large preference for fuzzy water in Germany.
Their city water is apparently regulated to death so it's very safe to drink, and I've definitely filled up my Nalgene from the bathroom sink when staying at the Hotel Crystal.
@Purple The non-availability of tap water in public spaces in Germany has made me angry for years! There have been some improvements, but we aren't even close to what some of our neighbors get.
