@freya @matt Hi, I am a blind person who follows you for the AccessKit stuff, to learn more. My intention is, for long term, to explore (and eventually switch to) full open source machines. But the state of the art in Linux and accessibility is not so mature as Windows and Apple is.

So, I correctly fit with the post you quoted, about far-right and far-left. Being aware of the damages far-right causes to human rights and environment, I also know that (unfortunately) tech is currently owned by them, for the most part. And this far-right driven tech, is the one with more features helping blind people. Including the so-called "vibe coding", namely "code generation assisted by automated models". Calling it somehow "intelligence", artificial or "super" even worse, is a lie IMHO, but it is a significant aid for blind community. Saying the opposite, means lying to ourselves.

This doesn't imply that far-right is caring of blind, no. It's a mechanism of dependence which risks to put us in a more vulnerable position. Even with agents, you create automation for everything, so, theoretically, the need of "hand made", experience made, accessible solutions, becomes unpopular. "they do what they need by themselves".

But no one can exclude that one day, short or long term, far-right decides that you can no longer use certain apps (fediverse? Open source?) on their systems. Or, that for "security reasons" you can no longer user certain words, not accepted by the government in question. Who said "350 banned words from federal documents"? Me. Climate, accessibility, women... there are so many normal words which can no longer be used in federal American documents. And they can become crazy, making them banned from tech as well. Who knows what's their long-term mindset?

But? Talked of far-right, what's around in the opposite side? Valid alternatives, MATURE alternatives, for blind? If meta glasses are "for perverts", I'd expect someone from the community proposing something more privacy-oriented to aid blind users. No. Nothing. Complete silence.

So? Am I pulling for far-right? No. I'm pulling for a less ableist society. Because this guilt-tripping and elitism gives power to the folks we don't want.
