I went outside to touch grass, but all it did was make me angry. The soil is dead, the lake is empty, the insects are almost gone, and the sounds of birds are nowhere to be heard, only the hum of motors and the smell of diesel seeped into cracks of infrastructure.

To stop and read a war memorial with the foundation cracked and withered ruined my day. What did the soldier dedicate his life to if the result is rot and decay in the present?
