@simon But, but Linus is scared of big version numbers ! And now there's Rust in his kernel.

(This is just referencing how the major version number for the linux kernel gets updated: when Linus finds the minor number too high)

It is an interesting question to ask : when does the major number becomes meaningless because it is frozen ?

(Apple got stuck on macOS 10 for ages, and eventually stopped the macOS 10.X and switched back to macOS N and then macOS YY, not without having some macOS 11 pretends to be macOS 10.xx thing under the hood).

we’re still right on schedule! rust releases have been extremely regular, with a new 1.x version every 6 weeks. the only change in the last 600 weeks was 1.3.0 onward released on thursday instead of friday

by the way, Rust 1.1000.0 is scheduled to be released on Thursday May 11, 2130

@simon Which makes it all the more funnier that 1.69 shipped on 4/20
