So people are jumping in to say eliminating the virus is no longer possible. That’s probably true, sadly. But can somebody explain to me how that’s supposed to be a reason to stop masking? If it’s never going away, then we still have to deal with it and manage the risks.

Paradoxically, we are supposed to never be sick but also never avoid becoming sick.
This is why we need to teach philosophy and worker's history in school. None of the "it's here to stay" sentiments make any sense from the people mouthing them, they only make sense for the overlords promoting the idea. Spoiler: repeating what rich people would like you to say will not, in fact, make you rich.
