    @Canageek @brooke remember to consider the possibility of updates to the document(s) as you ponder this, since old torrents will circulate ~indefinitely, but web pages often change frequently.

    The #SciOp project has been working at the intersection of those two ideas, but I would be lying if I said I fully understand how mutable torrents work, or what they've layered on top of that to make it practical for their goals.

    @SnoopJ @brooke I was just thinking of using the RSS feed mechanism that is already used for torrents. You don't send a torrent file: You send an RSS feed, and the torrent client pulls the top entry.

    @Canageek @brooke perhaps I misunderstood what you mean by "you send" in the original post, then. If it's feed-driven, you'd have to send a URL to the feed rather than a torrent file/magnet, right?

    @SnoopJ @brooke Yeah, you'd send a small XML file with information on where the feed is.

    It's common in certain piracy groups that do TV shows and whatnot, so you get the latest episodes as soon as they are released. So it's a proven method with 20 years of work on it that could be repurposed
