@littlerao random brain fart: could one convert a windscreen wiper mechanism?

@amberage @littlerao
I think the motor neads more power, but the idea sounds legit

@KEhleyr @amberage actually, I don't think a wiper would work that well, cause it would slow down towards the end of the motion range and it hitting in the center of motion might cause some unhealthy stress on the motor

@littlerao @KEhleyr fair… I reckoned not having a motor constantly go back and forth would extend its lifetime.

@amberage @KEhleyr hm... actually, thanks... I have an idea!
have a continous motion motor, convert that to linear-ish motion (steam locomotive in reverse) which presses on a pivot where on the other end is the impact toy 🤔

@amberage @KEhleyr ... that would slow down towards the end as well... but if its just like a "push it up and then unlatches and gravity/spring force does the actual hitting" could work...

@littlerao @amberage @KEhleyr I think the best approach is to use springs / rubber bands. Use the motor to pull the thing and then just use a mechanism to release the latch.

@yuki2501 @littlerao @KEhleyr the solution seems almost too simple to be true, but what if the paddle is just spring-loaded and the motor drives an arm that pushes it once per rotation? Unless I'm missing something obvious.
Force could be adjusted by i.e. mounting the spring on a screw, slapping frequency by adjusting motor speed. Just make sure to put a big red emergency stop button somewhere easily reachable.

@amberage @yuki2501 @KEhleyr why an emer stop tho? this will be a cnc machine! :D

@littlerao @yuki2501 @KEhleyr (kidding aside tho, any sex machine ought to have an emergency stop imo, like any other moving machine that operates around humans)

@amberage @littlerao @KEhleyr It's kinda funny tho, submissive people want so much to relinquish control, but when machines are involved, actually losing control would turn into a serious safety hazard 😬

@yuki2501 @amberage @KEhleyr I will use it as cnc machine... no E stop within my reach!
This is the very reason I wanna build this! To have this kinda play cause no dom ik wants to AND is able to do it!
Ik it's unsafe... but the safe option would be having a dom who does this with me! And well... I can't build a dom!

@littlerao @yuki2501 @KEhleyr the very… interesting implications about kink safety aside, if something shorts out and a cable catches fire, if the spring snaps, or if the camshaft cracks and starts spraying splintes everywhere, you'll definitely want an emergency stop then

@amberage @littlerao @KEhleyr Yeah, you only have to Google "self bondage deaths" to get an idea of how dangerous this stuff is 😰

@littlerao I recall a video where a girl was tied up and a machine did exactly that. I'm sorry but I forgot where I saw it 😅
