NO. BAD HUMAN. Do NOT turn that into a secret bookcase door. It's too expensive, and it would mean more work. And it's silly. And. And. You would need to redo the whole hallway. Which you really want to do anyways. You hate those warped MDF shelves.

    Shit.

Ok but do the other ten home projects first please. At least finish one of them.

@erik ok in that case, quick sanity check:

    1) you aren't considering this as a fire exit replacement

    2) all activities installing the bookshelf door are performed safely

    3) once installed, all activities beyond the bookshelf door are Mostly Safe, Sane or Really Fun, but always 100% Consentual

@erik there's specific hardware for hanging doors like that- the store I linked is great for either research on build plans or buying individual bits to include. Might be cheaper places to source but it's worth considering the load the door will be carrying.

@SomeVeganCheeseIsOk Yeah - I was looking at that a while ago and trying to figure out how to install them in the existing flooring (*very* old house).

Still a back-burner project for now, but every once and a while it pops into my brain and I go on a massive research binge. Maybe now that I have some more workshop space it will be able to move forward (amidst all of the things I *have* to be doing like work and stuff)
