Does anyone know what is the name of #emacs regexp engine? Is it just its own custom "Emacs Regexp"?

My biggest problems with #emacs

- I wish it were more responsive.
- buffers open up in arbitrary windows. Possible skill issue, but run into this with Magit, xref, compilation buffer, flymake
