This site has blobdar, and I think it's written in a language.
[contd.]
So, two questions:
• besides "with" and its compounds, are there any other English words that end with a voiced -th (/ð/) but no final -e?
• are there any English words that end with -the but pronounce it as /θ/ (the sound at the beginning of "think")?
So far I've not thought of any.
I'm still thinking (þinking) about "th". Welsh routinely puts the /ð/ sound, that starts "the" in English, at the end of words (spelling it as "dd"). There are English words that do it too: e.g. bathe, soothe, lithe, seethe, lathe, blithe, loathe.
BUT: virtually all of the ones I can think of end in "-the", which seems to force the th to be voiced. The only exceptions I can think of are "with" and compounds of it like "forthwith" or "wherewith".

Bring back þe letter þ. How can you þrow out þe only rune in your alphabet?
Also bring back ð. But ðis time, except in very common words like þe which look nice þe oðer way round, don't treat ðem as interchangeable. Use ð for þe voiced one and þ for þe unvoiced one, like ðey do in Icelandic.

To me this sounds worse than not hearing at all, and I don't even think I'm exaggerating. Imagine getting different words coming into your ears from the ones the person in front of you is speaking.
I don't know who needs not to know this, but you need to have stopped reading five words ago.
Snooperisms.
Agranams.
Every so often I misread "poetry" as "pottery" or vice versa, and it feels like a nice connection. :-) Especially given the pottery-related things people like @Remittancegirl and @ninawillburger post about. I don't think #poetry and #pottery are unrelated.

YES. (And very often, they're the people who don't think of themselves as teaching.)
