It's a hangout for folks to chat, share their creations, and discuss their crafts! For adult women & enbies only, and #noAI

(I'm afraid it's a Discord server for now, as most of the people I know that are interested in this kinda thing aren't on mastodon)

Spent the afternoon at my friend's place since he has a 3D printer to try and get the cases for the weathergotchis done, and in the process destroyed two of the e-ink screens 🫠

One had a break at the ribbon cable that wasn't my fault I'm pretty sure, and the other I forgot to file down the contacts on the back of the pcb and squeezed it into those too hard when assembling the case.

Sigh.

"A perpetually self-feeding meat grinder:" The futile search for developers who adore the latest prompt-gobblers from Unity and Google

Nice article by Chris Kerr, with some excellent quotes. 👌

Video game development is hard. It is painful and exhausting and finicky—and yet, everyone who reached out to share their views on Spark and Playground had nothing even remotely kind to say about either platform.

"I'd like to go on record and say fuck GenAI. Fuck the companies that have made billions developing automated plagiarism machines and fuck anyone defending it. They don't make tools, they use the Earth's resources to shove human culture into a perpetually self-feeding meat grinder."

This is real character development

When I was a kid first tinkering with computers Linux was soo cool -- partisan like minded hackers fighting against MicroSlop monopoly and brainrot. Then MS came up with the EEE strategy and they have succeeded with a slight tweak where Extinguish was replaced by Assimilate.

Or to put it bluntly, you either die a hero or become a beneficiary of the Linux Foundation.

Good news: I got the bosom surgery next week (there's been a sudden opening)

Bad news: I won't be allowed to do archery for two months 😭

god damn linus is so fucking stupid https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/CAHk-=whTs09_ozN+e09GU68N1wPP56MUzDjrg9rnKxQUa0A_4Q@mail.gmail.com/

Guess I'll have to see about hosting that outta my parents' house... somehow. Sigh.

Currently we house a 2U server at my office's rack for backup mirroring. It does not need much of anything.

When I move to Germany, obviously I won't have that available to me anymore, so the server needs to go somewhere else. I did a quick search for colocation in Zürich, and

lmfao, all of the offerings are either twice as expensive as the full root server we rent at hetzner, or don't even offer a price suggestion at all.

Insanity.

I did a very rough estimation of what my monthly expenses will look like if I do move to germany, and I know this looks like the dril meme format, but I swear it's not

In approximate euro/month:
Power: 35
Water: 35
Groceries: 60
Internet: 55
Server: 40
Mobile: 10
Leisure: 60
Sport: 30
Insurance: 400
Total: 725

And that should juuust about be within my current measly income limits.
