Finally because I am in here posting things I want to tell you an old joke I like to make which is we were collectively denied the best Bush/Clinton of the Bush/Clinton years which would have been an election between Kate Bush and George Clinton. And with that I turn this app off and set my phone down.
Oh we’re putting ads in inspector sidebars now? This is in Keynote.
Double the antigens double the fun 💉
I threw in some kelp bowties in a soup without soaking them beforehand and now the soup is intolerably salty with an iodine aftertaste yuck
"I went to the Nazi bar and I didn't see any politics" says more about you than you maybe realise
Happy thanksgiving
Protip:
When designing a user interface, imagine some old woman using it, say Margaret Hamilton, and she's clicking your app's buttons and saying to you, as old people do,
"Young whippersnapper, when I was your age, I sent 24 people to the ACTUAL MOON with my software in 4K of RAM and here I am clicking your button and it takes ten seconds to load a 50 megabyte video ad and then it crashes
I'm not even ANGRY with you, I'm just disappointed."
"Escape" lets you press the button to hear a soundscape from somewhere far away: babbling brooks, ocean waves, birdsong, a crackling fire...
“From a civilization that was amazed when scientific predictions were fulfilled, now we are tending to believe that any prediction is fact.”

Deeply unserious people
Anthropic is out with new nonsense about Claude (or the collection of models called Claude) deserving moral consideration and/or being able to feel distress, so my inbox is filling up with journos asking me to comment.
I've also got a day job, so here is a brief set of public comments on this:

Nobody asked, but having now done some work in the WAST/WAT/Wasm Textual format, here's how I would change it if I got the opportunity:
- Keep the S-expression structure, but stop pretending it's "a LISP", describe it as the Wasm S-Expression Syntax or something
- Put the operator at the *end*; parenthesis are now *only* hints to the typechecker.
So (i32.const 10 (i32.const 3 i32.const 8 i32.add) i32.mul) is legal
(i32.const 10 (i32.const 3 i32.mul)) is an error because mul wants 2 i32 args
I no longer have energy to laugh or to cry at learning that the real world finally specified the First Law of Robotics, and the real version (a) restricts humans, not robots; and (b) is "Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball".
oh well M-x toggle-frame-maximized still works
I "upgraded" from 26.x to 27.x and now I can resize my emacs window so yay
I have no chill
Days since I've had a talking to with an uber driver who just threw their emergency flashers on and stopped to let someone out mid-block: 0
