Did anyone ever write a review of the #StarTrek #TheNextGeneration episode Darmok, in the style of Darmok? Explaining the whole episode with classic quotes, pop-culture references and memes?

Honestly, I am not surprised after decades of the users being on the ass of FOSS developers for implementing this fixing that, and generally whining in issue trackers and internet forums without contributing anything.

We as a community get what we deserve in the end.

Is there a way in Inkscape to batch export multiple layers in a way that it always exports the whole page, including the empty parts?

Is there any #OpenStreetMap based navigator app, where one could set up directions based on public bicycle rental stations? Like it guides me to one of the closes bike stands on foot, guides me to the nearest bike station to my destination, and guides me to the destination on foot?

#OrganicMaps @organicmaps have you thought about a feature like this? 🤔

Okay, so I just wanted to figure out how to pad a video to a certain length with black frames so I can avoid getting spoiled when watching the downloaded broadcast of #StarCraft games on my TV by the length of the video.

I typed in my question to duckduckgo, there is no easy #ffmpeg switch that does it, there is no universal solution on stack overflow, but #DuckAi gave me a Bash script that almost worked instantly, and one that worked in like 20 minutes.

But I also feel dumber. #llm

Hi fellas, does anyone know which brand of TV should I buy if I want to avoid most of the "smort" stuff? I just want to be able to watch YouTube and my Battlestar Galactica DVDs and my own wedding video from a thumb drive as an mp4 file if you catch my drift.

I heard Samsung has great picture but its interface is bad and apparently some brands have an interface that itself contains ads?

5 years ago I thought that due to greed, big tech will develop highly capable, but non-aligned AI that will be dangerous, just to save on the cost of safety research.

Now I think that due to corporate greed, big tech realized it is cheaper to just use half-working stuff and hype it up as something so powerful it might be dangerous, to entice more investor capital.

I'd like to see how folks around this corner of the Fediverse think about generative AI, for which I mostly mean LLMs and image generators.

Are these systems one of the major sources of harm for the environment and society? Will they cause more harm in the future, or did the harm already peak? Select all that is applicable.

Pls. check the poll above, too.

Boosts are appreciated.

I'd like to see how folks around this corner of the Fediverse think about generative AI, for which I mostly mean LLMs and image generators.

Do these systems work reliably, do they produce useful outputs? Will they, or is it just a pipe dream / bubble that will burst? If they will work, will they work much better than now causing a lot of problems, or are they peaked already?

Pls. check the poll below, too.

Boosts are appreciated.

Redid my #neovim config to keep up with the times (I used many deprecated
plug-ins, and didn't use #lua).

I haven't the faintest idea what I'm doing, I just followed a tutorial, got #lazyVim, and a few plug-ins, and I am utterly stomped by how to set up the #python lsp, especially as I want to include #mypy type checking.

The duality of #documentation is that I either get a tutorial that explains nothing and expects you to copy paste, or a manual that goes waaaay over my head.
