Still waiting for my antifa t-shirt.

I made an instant pot risotto today that turned out pretty well, although I'm at a state in my cooking where I modify a recipe even as I read it.

It called for a single clove of garlic? Not happening, try 4-5, plus 4-5 crimini mushrooms, half a red pepper, half a cup of frozen peas, salt, pepper, and Mirin instead of white wine.

I consciously rewilded our garden a few years ago. My father would say “abandoned”, but I actually work quite hard to thin out each thing to avoid a monoculture setting in. Each year brings new exciting plants. Faves this year are the mass of pink mallow and the woundwort, which the bees seem to love!

hey chooms, it's time for an #introduction post! :bec_wink:

i'm fluted. by day, i'm a chef in the corpo world and travel between countries a fair bit and by night, i dive into norwegian learning, gaming, code, small electronics, and building tools to smooth out the edges of daily life.

if it can be done in a terminal, count me in. i love writing scripts and automations to save time... even if they take way longer to make than just doing the thing manually.

expect website experiments, home automation, and the occasional "not needed but made anyway" bash utility.

i'm always up for learning anything computer related but mostly just excited to jack in and see what everyone's building and doing

I refuse to let some reality show reject mess with my head. Big distractions mean there's a lot to distract from, and that's all.

The Scottish Languages Bill (2025) has PASSED. Scots is now an official language of Scotland, alongside and equal to Gaelic and English. A huge thanks to every activist, supporter and speaker who have fought so hard 🎉🥳🍾🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I’ve been made redundant at my job. If you want to hire an excellent Apple platforms developer (iOS, etc.) with 17 years of experience, time at Apple, and lots of SwiftUI experience, or a great Ruby on Rails developer, reach out.

Full-time or freelance. Ready to go immediately. Please spread the word. #Swift #RubyOnRails #GetFediHired

Much overlooked wall art under the a40 flyover edgeware road. This has been here for decades and always given me a smile. It is so covered in dust and dirt it’s often almost invisible but today it looks as if someone has brightened it up or repainted or something yay!! #wallart #urban

After seeing the protest in Charlottesville today, my kid came home and set up his own Lego protest.

Hands Off on April 5th was pretty big, but I went to the same location for No Kings today and it was orders of magnitude bigger.

It looks the same everywhere.

This is the 100 year anniversary of humans having an idea of what the heck the sun and all the stars actually are. If you had asked a leading astronomer in 1925 what the sun was, they would say that it's basically the same as Earth, but very hot.

In Cecilia Payne's doctoral thesis she was the first to say, from spectral data, that the sun was overwhelmingly made of hydrogen and helium.

It was later described as "the most brilliant PhD thesis ever written in astronomy".
