I'm running a little late, mid-October & I haven't spookified my sites yet. GEEZ. Collecting some GIFs from https://gifcities.org
but it gives me 500s sometimes, & it's just crashed out.

I made some scalloped potatoes for lunch, but they aren't cooling off fast, so MUNCH AAGH WATER repeat.

Strange, how (even in FOSS) the AI discussion always pivots to technical topics (or I should rather say to technical speculations about the future), instead that it's just discussed as a part of the code of conduct: Don't use inhuman (in more than one sense), IP-stealing tech.

The FOSS community is well known to take a moral stance every now and then, so why not apply this to AI? Because it's so overwhelmingly useful?

But guess what: This will definitely make us fall back behind the industrial competition, since they can buy much more usefulness in form of tokens.

If we recognize AI work as useful or equivalent to the work of FOSS activists we are already fucked, because we can always be beaten in this game by the guys with the deeper pockets..

@mdhughes Dug up a review by George Orwell in 1946:
"Imprisoned by the Tzarist Gov. in 1906, and then imprisoned by the Bolsheviks in 1922 in the same corridor of the same prison, he (Zamyatin) had cause to dislike political regimes he had lived under, but his book is not simply the expression of a grievance. It is in effect a study of the Machine, the genie that man has thoughtlessly let out of its bottle and cannot put back again."

Nightcrawler says to buy VERB! Don't just NOUN or ADJECTIVE! Available wherever SPANDEX is sold, apparently!

I like em all but the Victorian English option will absolutely have their head spinning. 😁

If you are not deep in #lambdaMOO #mud I can imagine this being confusing:

>;me:tell("<lisp> \"AAmIFIHwnD8jU\" (moo::moo \":dances\")");
<lisp> "AAmIFIHwnD8jU" (moo::moo ":dances")
=> 0
Wizard dances

In MOO,
; 1 + 1;
will
=> 2
and have no output.

However in my case, I am using me:tell("string"); which calls tell on me obviously. Then what I am telling myself is:
<lisp> "AAmIFIHwnD8jU" (moo::moo ":dances")
I hooked to moo.el to eat
<lisp> "AAmIFIHwnD8jU"
and send
(moo::moo ":dances")
to lisp/

@djsundog the George Michael moment that is seared into my brain is seeing him getting blown away by Annie Lennox doing Under Pressure with Bowie at the rehearsal. The love of the game
