Believe me, I want to stop writing about X. I hope to soon.

John wrote to a few folks that the Ellisons suck, and asked if folks avoiding X will also stop watching HBO.

It’s a fair question. Here’s my fair answer.

Perhaps the most controversial post I’ll share today:

Gnome for Mac updates!

https://lexfriedman.com/gnome

Sometimes the Settings window opened behind other apps. Now it doesn't.

When you used the GIF organizer, deselecting GIFs could get annoying. Now, clicking in the in-between spaces deselects, as you'd expect.

VoiceOver support is improved, with a spoken alert when you've successfully copied a GIF to the clipboard.

Sometimes, CPU consumption could get out of hand after you used the GIF creator. Now it doesn't.

If you use Finder tags on your GIFs, Gnome helpfully offers to import them as tags the app can see. But sometimes, Gnome wouldn't shut up about them — constantly asking if you wanted to import those tags — even if you already had. It doesn't do that anymore. Phew.

I’ve been sent evidence of two online discussions wondering why I, Lex Friedman, would pretend I’m not a huge Elon Musk fan.

As a reminder, please see https://lexfriedman.com/friedman.

(I’m not Lex Fridman.)

Boy, Howard, this post made my night. Full stop. No hyperbole.

Literally, before I posted, I thought: well, time to change zero minds.

@lexfri “I’m taking the steps I can to not make that smug, rich, hateful asshole any richer.”

Only thing I would add is that he’s using that wealth to elect people who will enact his heinous views, used that influence to do DOGE, which is just a smokescreen to steal data and cancel investigations into his businesses at the cost of hundreds of thousands to millions of lives.
