Iš Justo Petronio teksto "TYKUS PRARADIMAS: KODĖL DIRBTINIO INTELEKTO ŽALA LIKS NEPAMATUOTA?"

...

Paris Marx has assembled a long list of software he uses (or has considered) on his quest to ditch US- based tech: https://disconnect.blog/getting-off-us-tech-a-guide/

The way he did it is a good example how to communicate and promote alternatives: personal, warm and not overwhelming. I think #infopankai could do something like this.

Although the very premise is debatable: why @parismarx is grounding his fight on national basis (against US based tech), and not for digital commons? Maybe to still have some foreign corporate, more polished options, and make ir more appealing to general politicized Canadian audience?

Paris seems to have good intuition for balancing technical choices with reach, without being too radical in either direction. Maybe also something to learn.

Nors "didžiavimasis" savo šalim bendrai man nelabai suprantamas, konkrečiais tautiečių pasiekimais kartais moku pasidžiaugt.

Estonia told CNBC it was accelerating its “open-source first” principle because of “heightened security threats on Europe’s eastern flank.” Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine raised fears it could target the Baltic states, including Estonia.

“This has made digital sovereignty a matter of national survival, not just IT policy,” Liisa Pakosta, the country’s minister of justice and digital affairs, said.

Among many things I hate about attacking Iran, one is that it only benefits russia:
- Oil prices will go high, boost russian economy and encourage further desctruction of Ukraine;
- The world will watch yet another show in shock, taking public attention and diplomatic energy away from bombardment of Ukraine

Of course, putin will publicly mourn fellow villain Khamenei (public speaking byKGB agent is always a disinformation campaign), but strategically this war is very much in his interest.

ugh, I guess my #GotoSocial does not handle videos very well. But I'm not firing up Peertube for that, and can't upload to yt back :) Whats the solution?

Palantir says out loud, what I thought were mostly exaggerated insinuations by many tech critics as @parismarx . They say they're a political organisation which advocates for supremacy of the "western" world and its way of living.

(a pause for swearing and calling names)

What in their heads is western civilisation if not one for democracy, rules based order and human rights? Just christianity, whiteness and geography? Wtf. Be best versionof yourselves at least.

(more space for calling names)

France24 discusses European dependance on US software and digital infrastructure. This topic is getting louder.

Finally coming back to designing a heliostat system. Some progress of reflecctions in #Blender & geometry nodes. Greetings to @Joanie !

Made a solar themed game prototype, where a group of sun-powered protagonists walk through a city while helping each other to maintain energy levels by providing sunlight reflections. NYC inspired.

I'm having a rough time #self-hosting a fedi instance for personal needs. Just went back to #GotoSocial, but without support for notifications and hashtag-following it is not likely to be loved.

My home server is based on #yunohost with quite a few userful services, but proper #mastodon does not run well in this system. I'm not willing to add another machine and invest in learning docker.

I started self-hosting fedi account to get free from weird opinions of admins, forbidding me to follow people from certain other places, like journa.host or threads.net. I find it very illiberal to restrict my communication according to their own politics.

So if you know which instances are only blocking hard nazi/porn stuff, but are generally permissive, let me know.
Even paying a little for a more generic and permissive instance is not a problem - but couldnt find such option.

There is instance chooser too, but it does not focus much on server blocklists, character limits, and does not list paid instances (I know there were some though, cant find anymore). Maybe @TheKinrar has some ideas?

Meanwhile #EU closed their institutional fediverse servers..
