Guess Google has got in on the new vibe coded look. New logo with the requisite gradient that's all the rage these days. This isn't even a real "workspace" account; just my personal gmail (spam, mostly). But it took 30 seconds to load instead of the usual 2-3 🤔
made a quick video demonstrating the performance of the upcoming MNT Quasar 8550 module, here in the MNT Reform Next (open hardware laptop). I recorded a bit of Blender, KiCAD, KDEnlive and the Steam library (camera at 50fps) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fM8e0roZGU
By the way, I hear they've now invented Artificial Super Incompetence? They should give it a cool name with some number, like e.g. ASI9.
I will never cease to be amazed at how purportedly profit-maximizing entities make it so insanely difficult to give them money.
I read some post about how Mastodon consists primarily of German-speaking creatures talking in English. I'm gonna do a poll, need to test that. Boosts highy appreciated!
So, do you speak German?
Ice (Cream) Scoop
A clear day in February, and we're travelling towards Öxnadalur. The mountains are lit beautifully by the low sun in the south-south-west, only 10° above the horizon.
The wide water-cut valley has also been carved by ice into this stunningly lovely funnel. The collection of farm buildings and the piles of winter fodder lend excellent scale to the photo.

Best weather or the year… I love autumn 🍂
James Holden - BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix [2002-01-20] is a great throwback. This was the era in which I first got into electronic music.
#PortsLife #FreeBSD I spent another morning updating and patching a bunch of stuff. I have a couple of new interesting ports to share:
PatDiff: diffs for the discerning developer
- https://github.com/janestreet/patdiff textproc/patdiff is one of my favourite command line tools, your diffs never look so good and clean! Gorgeous output, written in #OCaml
markpdf / markterm: PDFs from markdown
- https://github.com/ralsina/markterm ported mainly because it provides a great markdown->PDF tool, with pagination support! I want this for simple invoice generation, and it was really quick to put a fake one together! Written in #Crystal.
The lovely fonts are from https://mbtype.com/:
Valkyrie B for the table https://mbtype.com/fonts/valkyrie/sample.html
Advocate 55 Wide Med for the headings https://mbtype.com/fonts/advocate/sample.html
DejaVu Sans for the body, public domain https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DejaVu_fonts from https://github.com/dejavu-fonts/dejavu-fonts
Best weather of the year (in the northern hemisphere)
I love this - overlay Sanborn Insurance maps on current maps: https://www.danvk.org/2026/09/10/mapsnap.html
I have an old Sanborn Insurance map of Old City in Philly hanging up at home and I love it.

Goddess Of The Dawn
10pm in mid-November, and the second part of a two hour auroral display is just coming to an end.
The moon is almost full, high in the south-south-east. It's milky light is picking out the snow on the mountain tops as we look north.

More progress on getting FreeBSD booted on an RK3588 SoC! Next time around I'll definitely have to start doing some code changes, but I've gotten all the way to a (single-user, with basically no drivers) base system over the weekend!

This time of year has the best weather in Seoul ❤️
If YouTube could stop AI dubbing every semi popular channel with no way to disable, that’d be great… this is SO terribly annoying. Kid goes to watch some educational video in English and it comes on with this shitty AI dubbed Korean audio track EVERY SINGLE TIME!
There is no way to disable this. And sadly YouTube really is the only way a lot of stuff is distributed :/
“StreetComplete on iOS - public beta”!
OMG! This is great news! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
(I don't personally have an iOS device, but SC is awesome, and this will help OSM!)
