My friend and his partner are raising their kiddo in a prescriptive-gender-role-free way: they're super hardcore about it. Except kiddo has realized that her parents really hate unnecessarily gendered stuff and apparently has learned to troll them.

The other day in the car she was like, "Hey Daddy. Monday, Thursday and Sunday are boys and Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday are girls"

This is, as far as I'm concerned, a high-tier adult-quality #shitpost.

July Talk are this awesome Canadian band I've been following for a while now -- they have two lead singers, a very high-pitched femme voice and a very low growly Tom Waits-y guy; their songs are all blues-rock duets / conversations between the two singers. A really unique style!

@ladderadder.bsky.social contributed:
* number of birds per second the screen can display
* whether the screen size perfectly matches their own dimensions

When #cats are selecting a #laptop to purchase, do you think the spec they consider most important is "sharpness of screen corner edge for bumping purposes" or "foot-feel of the keys"?

Other ideas welcome.

We are going backwards so fucking hard.

I was a very late adopter of Twitter (only a few months before the buyout) because for years I was like, "who cares about everyone sharing the minutia of their lives?!"

...but also...

Last night I made some incredible garlic, cavolo nero, and pine nut pasta -- maybe the best pasta dinner I've made in years. While trying to add black pepper, the cap on the mill came off and dumped tons of pepper balls(?) onto my plate, ruining one portion.

I recently learned about Dexfile (https://github.com/ctryard/dexfile), a superset of Dockerfile, which allows access to more of buildkit's underlying complexity (eg more expressive conditional behavior).

This is going to help a lot on a project for work.

It's cool because there's nothing to install -- you just add essentially a shebang line to the top of your Dockerfile and change the extension.

Lol. This hurts because it is so within the realm of possibilities.

This little 2 minute segment from Robot Chicken is one of those parodies so perfect that it kinda undoes a bit of the magic of the source material for all future viewings. What a perfect encapsulation of the Law and Order formula.
