"This may be the first time someone has put on Resurrection of the Daleks as a palette cleanser" - my partner.
We have just watched episode 8 of The Amazing Digital Circus.
That hit hard.
We are literally watching episode 1 of Resurrection of the Daleks so we have something less dark to watch before going to bed.
@robinince
Rachael wanted to send a message to you, but is currently avoiding social media.
Didn't say at the time as I didn't want to hold up the line but thank you so much for your solidarity and speaking up for trans people it means so much and gave a bit of brightness in the dark.
And thanks for introducing me to so many lovely things and people through your show.
P.S. The very exciting flint wall is the one on the north side of The Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell south of St. Andrew's Church
People of Mastodon, I need some help translating something my mum used to say to me when I was young.
She would say in Flemish something like "curieuzeneuzen floorstitcher'.
I've worked out that curieuzeneuzen literally means "curious nose", but the part that sounded like "floorstitcher" has eluded me.
Sadly my mum passed away last week. She was born in Gent, but grew up in England. Remembering her today reminded me about the phrase.
On a related note, how does a country that small have 3 different dialects of flemish‽
And before I forget to say - use this at your own risk!
I welcome feedback, constructive advice / criticism, and help.
I've just pushed my changes for clbre to github that I believe strips out the AI integration.
https://github.com/grimthorpe/clbre
I have also forked the Arch AUR calibre-git repository so it can build clbre on Arch Linux based systems. Or at least it works for me...
https://github.com/grimthorpe/clbre-git
If you know what you're doing then please give it a go. I make no guarantee that it'll build on anything other than my machine, and even then I seem to only be able to do a couple of build runs before one of the build steps crashes out with a segfault that can only be resolved by rebooting my machine.
I have attracted some attention from PitchHut who would like me to use their AI slop to promote my project that is all about removing AI slop.
They're also gamifying promoting projects, so in order for your project to be viewed by others, you need to look at other people's project promotions.
I hate this sort of thing. If you need to use gamification to drive views of your AI slop then you are part of the problem of the modern web.
With the recent announcement of Calibre now having even more AI integration (I wasn't aware of it before), I am thinking about maintaining a fork that strips out the AI integration completely.
If I do it will be called Clbre. I'd also be happy if someone else uses that name for the same thing.
This is something I wrote a while back, but it is still true now as it was then.
We're Going On A Requirements Hunt!
(With apologies to Michael Rosen)
We're going on a Requirements Hunt.
We're going to catch a full one!
We're not scared.
Since I've seen a lot of chatter about people switching to #Firefox as Google ramps up the enshitification of #Chrome, let me tell you about a killer feature for people who (a) need multiple accounts on the same websites (eg. devs) or specifically (b) have to use multiple Google accounts.
Firefox has an official addon called Multi Account Containers that lets you trivially set up color coded tabs that have separate sets of cookies. Log into your dev account in one, and your test account in another. Log into your personal #gmail in one and have another tab next to it with your work Gmail. I'm actually not signed in to any Google accounts in most my tabs, I just have containers for the specific tasks I do on Google products.
It'll take you 30 seconds to set up.

Hi, I'm Lisa, a trans-femme non-binary computer programmer who is (sometimes) amazed that people pay her to do what she loves doing every day.
In my spare time I play TTRPGs, boardgames, computer games, and sometimes mess around with computers and microcontrollers.
