turns out i'm oke btw, more or less :neocat_hug:

bf's in town and every time he & i kiss in front of our friends they call out "straiiiiight" in that frat boy voice

i'm deeply ashamed of my body and how wrong i still feel in it

i get two responses to this in practice

"actually the map is the territory. you fool. you idiot"

"i don't have a map at all, which makes me superior"

both equally irksome

thinking of making "the map is not the territory" my academic carthago delenda est

oh and i actually did the circuit up proper so that other ppl can make one if they want to without having to embroider the circuit onto a perfboard like i did

some more quality time with the Gardencourt 505-1 this weekend :neocat_glasses:

i took a two week break to see how the last set of treatments would heal up. by day 12 they were completely healed without a trace, no visible scars. with that, i declared the Gardencourt 505-1 safe under nominal operating conditions, and got to work.

1.5hr session yesterday evening, and a 2hr session this morning. ~200 follicles treated on my right arm: a ~3cm strip crosswise (last night), and a ~2cm strip lengthwise (today). i might do a third session tomorrow, but this is already much faster progress than i had originally accounted for, so i might not.

i learned that word from jocelyn so if i used it wrong it's her fault :neocat_uwu:

the ⭐️ button is shaped like that cause it makes your oomfies' dopaminergic neurotransmitters go all spiky :neocat_floof_cute:

having a foot on either side of the pond, i'm allowed to decide which is better; and in just this one case, the british one is better

while i was at the big fancy applied mathematicians workshop, i heard someone say "in for a dime, in for a dollar". that struck me not only as an egregious americanization of the perfectly fine "in for a penny, in for a pound", but also a considerable weakening of the stakes, going from 240:1 to 10:1, assuming the penny and pound in question are pre-decimaliaztion

2011, calibrating a 3d printer: ohmigosh this is so cool!!!! i can't imagine what kinda crazy stuff i'll be doing 10 or 15 years from now
2026, after transition, calibrating a 3d printer with my tits out: holy shit

i was just at a big fancy workshop on PDE verification with a bunch of big fancy mathematicians and the general mood was, and i quote, "we're in the bargaining stage of grief"

A mathematician is a machine that turns lakes into unreadable Lean code.

i'm a little unclear on when exactly "incremental progress" started to mean having fewer rights than before

this is what half of dems sound like abt trans issues rn

all i'm saying is, i think dems should be willing to capitulate on the kennedy center and let them raze it to the ground. we can't risk being too divisive. progress is incremental, you know? and besides, maybe the kennedy center's had it too good for too long.

(it's the only device i have that can reliably read & write to the version of SD card that the SD card reader on the printer uses; that kind of card is nearly impossible to buy now)
