Fascinating!

Human rights, dignity and respect applies to every person irrespective of color or religion. Except to the German people that say Digger or Bro at the end of every sentence, those are not covered.

As if being an intolerant bigot wasn't enough of a reason

Kotlin DataFrame 1.0.0-rc01 is out.

I had a feeling that now I am receiving more libraries at the Kotlin Weekly than articles, because code has become easier to produce. Now I can confirm it:

I went this morning to the doctor for a medical recognition. He weighted me, and told me that my BMI says I am obese. He did a bit of theater, broke the paper and told me the BMI is bullshit.

I weight 80 kg, 174 centimeters. Right at the start of obesity. I run ultra marathons, go to the gym regularly and generally take the bike twice per day.

BMI just checks the relationship between weight and height. According to this, a body builder is probably morbidly obese.

I can’t be happier having reduced my social networks to a minimum amount.

The only one I use to interact with folks is Mastodon. I connect a few times per day, the timeline is linear and I don’t need to scroll mindlessly. I follow people and topics I am interest in. There is too less negativity in my life, and I can focus on other things that are interesting: family, sports, reading and work. I wished I would have done it earlier!

Goodhart’s Law: “When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure.”

When you are discussing whether test coverage is the only metric you need, remember that this has a 100% test coverage, and a 0% utility.

Don't take me wrong, test coverage is important, and very especially in the AI era. But following a metric without following the substance doesn't lead to a bright place.

Why I always take conference feedback with a grain of salt. Example of my last talk:

We had a fantastic day yesterday training(*) for a triathlon in anticipation of a middle-distance event at the end of the month.

(*) training involved drinking beer during a bike segment.
