Anyone who knows what "shibboleth" means is my kind of person.

What if I'm like amazingly talented at golf. I'll never know.

Do you know that the GitHub link from https://elenajs.com is broken? Is the project still going? It’s one of my favorites.

My cultural divination sessions have brought a grave prophecy. Everyone get ready for a dark time is now upon us. Retain thy resolve, and hark upon this prediction that I fear will corrupt the TikToks further:

The word "canonically" will soon lose its meaning as people use it incorrectly.

The end is nigh.

Arsenal are champions of England. I love this club. Here's part of why.

So hard not to take it personally. But it's business. People have a lot going on and I can't blame them for it.

Maybe I missed some major constraints, or they weren't given to me.

Either way, I'm glad I asked for a pre-payment and spent time on a tight contract. I suppose that's the real lesson.

A client asked me to build them a marketing site, which I did with #11ty. Super accessible, minimalist, max lighthouse scores, utterly responsive etc. Matched the design to the pixel. Loaded instantly even with a 3G connection.

I delivered it within a week and a half, and they immediately ghosted me. Three months later they had rebuilt it in flutter web.

It's not accessible at all, tons of usability issues, not responsive, over 5 MB to load before first paint.

I just... Okay.

I'm super skeptical about the #atprotocol for a few reasons. The biggest is the network architecture putting giant "relay" servers in the center. The sell is that servers can be super light and just have to talk to a relay server. But this effectively centralizes everything onto the relays. There is only one so far, BlueSky, and the infrastructure need is massive. I don't see anyone else making one any time soon so BlueSky still has defacto control over the entire network.

We need a Museum of Disasters. Every exhibit shows a different type of catastrophe -- what happened, how we responded, what we learned. The final exhibit is always updating: the biggest risks we face right now. We make terrible decisions about risk when the last disaster fades from memory. Make it unforgettable.

While we are discussing Astral's acquisition, I wrote a quick proof-of-concept last night to figure out how to find funding details for the various packages your projects depend on.

Overheard just now, walking down the street:

"Everyone wants me to get on the app. FUCK the app."

I made a thing: here's the upcoming Python releases.

Oh, look, there's one today! I hope that's out soon...

How will code be written differently in an LLM world?

One way I'm seeing is data-oriented code is a lot easier for the LLM to write with than it is for me. It's just hard for me to think intuitively in that style compared to say functional or object-oriented code.

Pretty much no loss for me, either, since I'm fine with going into detail on such code; just the initial writing is harder.

I’ve been an English speaker all my long life and seriously two v’s in “savvy?” Why is it that my head it’s spelled saavy?

My amazing wife today dropped a whole ass ALBUM. The work that goes into this is insane.
