RE: https://mastodon.social/@MastodonEngineering/117479277563396379

In order to mitigate this problem, I will be doing a reboot for every instance on Masto.host. This will cause about 15 seconds of downtime.

it’s advised that all system administrators should turn off all their systems

That xkcd comic is now real life. Kind of like The Onion.

We have posted more information about today's security releases, including the sequence of events that led to the discovery, how the PHP security team is improving their processes, and what we need from you to continue this critical work. https://thephp.foundation/blog/2026/10/21/todays-php-security-release-and-how-were-strengthening-php-security/

No, really, these PHP vulns are quite serious and you should drop everything and patch. https://www.php.net/index.php

When the new Mastodon design was released, I knew I would need a more powerful interface as I manage multiple accounts and there was no official support for that.

So I worked on it periodically, when I had time, and now its 80% ready, with basic support and powerful customization! Built with Nuxt 4 and Tailwind ✨

In the wake of the compromise of the eMudhra Intermediate CA, we strongly encourage all Mastodon administrators to make sure their systems are up-to-date.

For those using our official Mastodon container images, we just rebuilt them (with the same tags) so they contain the latest updates to the list of CA certificates. Please update them as soon as possible.

For more information about this compromise and ways to check if your server is impacted, please read https://emudhra.we-have-a-problem.com

Send me your favorite blogs.

Like, people have built entire careers around this kind of personality online.

The worst part of social media culture, no matter where you are on the internet, is how popular it is to be an aloof, snarky, cynical ass-hole.

People like this are ostracized from social circles irl, but online it's like an aspiration. I hate it.

Watch the new Carrie series. It's great.
