Work in progress on Robot Shooter. I'm really happy with how the colors are working on this scene.
Hoping to get Alpha 7 out in a couple weeks.

I believe the phrase "hoist by his own petard" applies here. Shilling for AI while your own industry gets fucked over by it and your customers are priced out of participating because of it is... a strategy.
This is the culmination of executive and marketing driven demands for ever larger and more detailed projects that fail to actually engage players. I don't care how pretty a game is if it's boring and needs $1000 of new hardware to actually play.
Today's work gripe.
We have an AI review tool that comments on merge requests into our git repository. I was verifying a bug fix which... didn't fix the bug. The AI review bot pointed out some nonsense but completely missed the *two* unused arguments in a modified function. Something both the compiler and lint tools *do* notice.
I'm also a bit miffed that the unit test added also didn't explode despite not fixing the bug because the test scenario doesn't match the bug.
Does this count as a proper post for #Mosstodon
Hmm, I wonder if there are any decent pre-osx mac emulators floating around
I forgot to close my work laptop last night. This morning I woke up to Microsoft Sam saying "narrator on" over and over. After a few moments of confusion I saw my cat, laying comfortably on the laptop keyboard staring at me.
To add injury to insult one of the keycaps disappeared from the laptop while I was evicting the cat before she did any more damage.
Random anime subs vs dubs thought
While I generally prefer subs to get the original acting and cadence there are shows out there with some pretty good dubs. There is one show though where I prefer the dub and that's Black Lagoon. Partially because it's really good but I think it also helps that the characters would most likely be speaking English given 3/4 of the main characters are from the USA.
Example of clickbait I despise:
YouTube video title "all yandere simulator content BANNED on YouTube"
Yet, somehow, when I search for such content I can find it just fine. Funny coincidence that. Almost like someone is lying to get engagement.
Reading between the lines: Tim Sweeney wants the industry to lie to customers by omission. For money. Not using AI to explore new ideas or advance the medium. Just cash.
Ignoring that gen AI's actual cost is hidden by massive investor subsidies; the only reason it works is that it's building a collage of plagiarized work at the expense of artists. Tim wants to stab actual human developers in the back in the name of profits. Then he wants to pretend that never happened.
Why the fuck would you implement a captcha that requires scripts from two separate third parties to work... and then not have the grace to make it break immediately if either are missing?!
Oh, yeah. It's microslop. That's why
What I love about #monsterdon posts showing on my feed is that it's like experiencing an mst completely divorced of context.
Dumbest post I saw today, paraphrased
"US hAS cHaTgpt
ChINa hAs DEepSeEK
euROpE HAs ...?"
Because useless slop machines that waste energy, pollute their neighbors and are nigh universally hated are an accomplishment to be emulated? Whoever posted that must have their head so deep that, defying all laws of physics and biology, it came out their mouth and circled right back into their ass
Normally I get pretty cheesed off by misleading names of things but this one is pretty unavoidable. Next time I should read what the tooltip/docs say.
C# protip:
System.IO.Path.PathSeparator is, in fact, not the separator character for file paths. It is the separator character in the PATH environment variable. The one I wanted was System.IO.Path.DirectorySeparatorChar
Guess how I just found that one out.
