The Capitol Hill Wishing Tree. I climbed Galer St. from Montlake to it only to find the tag jar empty, but a few moments later an old lady, who doesn't seem to know a lot about the tree (seems like the responsibility was placed on her), came out and refilled it. Yes, it's October, so they put skeletons around, which is a bit anticlimactic but funny. And of course I wrote a wish there. Someone else arrived later and doodled spirals on a new tag and dropped it off too.

I see that https://metrodemontreal.com has finally been revamped! (For years I thought it's dead, after the revamp fundraiser 404'ed and the forum crashed.) While I miss the old website layout (which is quite retro and focuses on graphics and layouts, as opposed to a fairly standard blog theme), I do appreciate the new photo essays (there are also a lot more photos now!) and the addition of train car positions for each platform.

Oh yes, I remember the „The UX of LEGO Interface Panels“ article:

Apparently kids don't have any say over who they are & they don't get to ask other people to see them as they see themselves.

FUCK THAT.

You don't own your kids. You can't control who they are & how they will express it. And if you're "worried" for them, worry about whether other people will allow them to exist freely & safely as themselves.

I have to say that if you ever say "that's literally trickle-down economics!" and you're not referring to the Phillips Hydraulic Computer, I'm going to be very disappointed.

But the real way C:S hides the consequences of car-based urban development is with ‘pocket cars’. You don’t need to consider car parking, because if there isn’t space to park their car, citizens will simply make it disappear – fold it up and put it in their pocket. Where parked cars do appear, they’re essentially eye candy to make the city look more ‘realistic’ – but the game mechanic actually makes it unrealistic, because you don’t need to turn the nice overhead view of your city into this:

My website now has a " #collections " page: https://austinhuang.me/collections/ , featuring a small fraction of various cards (especially the ORCA cards I got recently) I collected in the past. Check it out!

@amberage @hpod16 Give teenagers some fucking third spaces, and the time and the means to be there. If they still spend much of their time on the internet, that means the internet is nessesary for their social needs to be met.

If you "acknowledge there is a serious problem", you're either acknowledging a problem with your institutions and infrastructure - not the kids; or being an authoritarian-minded dick who wants to deny vulnerable people the connections they need to remain sane.

THIS ANSWER IS A MESSAGE... IT IS PART OF AN AUTOMATED SYSTEM OF MESSAGES... PAY ATTENTION TO IT, AS OPTIONS HAVE CHANGED!

YOUR CALL IS IMPORTANT TO US.  WE CONSIDERED OURSELVES TO BE A POWERFUL COMPANY.

THIS CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE IS NOT A PLACE OF HONOR... NO HIGHLY ESTEEMED CORPORATION IS CONTRACTED HERE... NOTHING VALUED IS HERE.

I finally decided to get my #HomeAssistant working just for that one smart camera I have (that has a reverse-engineered API)... Took me a while to get up all the automations just for that one thing... But alas it should work better than their official app. What other smart stuff (that hopefully does not require calling-home to the manufacturer, and is not expensive) should I get?

Woag. Da gas prices going crasy... Ubuntu. Please fix. (ò_óˇ)

larping as just random bullshit in google search is lowk really funny

Things getting moldy before I remember they are there turns a 5 minute action into an hour long pain regularly. This is one reason why I mostly only buy frozen/dried things now, and why I wish we had more shared eating

A few NUMTOTs threw a small funeral for bus routes 550 and 271 in #Bellevue. There were like 10 people, some shared their personal memories with the buses and looking forward to better transit, so it is more of a celebration of life. And we had flowers, which most opted to present to the drivers.
