Call me a Luddite but I'm extremely wary of updating to #Apple's #AI powered by Apple Intelligence #macOS 27. I've managed to use my computer quite happily without activating its AI features - none of which do anything I want, anyway. Stories of rogue agentic AIs put me off even more. Plus the update will kill some apps I like. So, for now, I’ll stick to macOS 26.

Ah ha, #Skynet is already plotting global termination! -> #OpenAI alerts 100+ orgs that its 'misaligned models' attempted to break in - or worse #AI https://www.theregister.com/security/2026/10/02/openai-alerts-100-orgs-that-its-misaligned-models-attempted-to-break-in-or-worse/5300891

Just chill everybody! “#Nvidia boss says there is ‘0% chance’ #AI destroys the world by 2030” and wait until 2031! https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/sep/21/nvidia-boss-jensen-huang-dismisses-warnings-ai-destroys-world-anthropic

These #AI - #LLM mess-ups are coming thick and fast now…and are getting progressively more dangerous: AI hallucination of #Chinese #nuclear components almost led to #US military attack https://arstechnica.com/ai/2026/09/report-us-almost-boarded-chinese-ship-over-hallucinated-ai-arms-report/?comments-page=2#comments

Ever heard of a short #film called The Vorren? Appears to be hybrid real footage with one human character and #AI generated characters, and monster. I guess we are going to see a lot more of these productions #movie

So, my fellow #human beings…would you prefer to be assimilated by a US #AI or a Chinese AI? This assumes that assimilation might be offered as an alternative to elimination 🙂#ArtificialIntelligence

So, what will get us first? The return to #nazism or #AI or #ClimateChange?!

While #Mastodon isn’t bad, it still can’t beat good old fashioned #RSS for snippets of up to date #news from providers you choose. Am, pleasantly, surprised RSS feeds still exist as do some pretty good #feed readers.

The latest iteration of #Italy’s #farright, a new party formed by an ex general called Vannacci, has published an #ai video with him as a Roman emperor who sentences left leaning leaders to death. Copycating #Trump antics? Sure looks like it.

China's #robot #technology is progressing at a frightening pace: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8_Q7LNBmo4 - Shortly, many human soldiers will be redundant, one suspects.

So I asked the #Claude #LLM this question: Can you compose an entire electronic music track using only a drum machine? - and I expected a yes or no answer. What I got was a full blown - programmable - drum machine with several presets! #Techno #House #Trap and more plus a song arranger. Did not expect that! It's a great example of what can happen when AI prompts are not, er, composed correctly.

#Sunday - I woke up this morning to find odd splash marks in the kitchen sink. I added the cereal bowl and took a #photo and thus was born a new genre of photographic #art - #SinkArt 🙂

#AI really is upending everything: #GenerativeAI’s threat to #music sample libraries is existential — #Splice thinks it has a solution | MusicTech - https://musictech.com/features/generative-ai-splice-ms-mavy-bt-interview/ For now, AI can’t replace musicians playing live.

One thing I do miss from the bird site is the ability to find #localnews I know something has happened near where I am but can’t find anything about it on #Mastodon Am I doing something wrong? Or is it just that Mastodon is not great for recent events?

So not #demons walking among us?! I guess Trumpty will bury this study - #Toxins plus climate harms likely cause of reduced #fertility, study finds | #Science | The Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/science/2026/apr/26/toxic-exposure-climate-crisis-study

Fun fact: In #Italian, televisions can be male - il televisore or female - la televisione. Oddly, Italian tightie righties haven’t whinged about gender fluid TVs 😉 #language

Had been wondering about the booing of US vice president JD Vance at the #2026winterolympicgames opening ceremony which I watched on TV here in #Milan #Italy. I didn't hear any boos. Today I talked to someone who was at the opening ceremony in person and this person confirmed that Vance was booed as was the team from Iran. The TV in Italy had turned down the boo volume, it seems.
