It looks like @obsidian has a ton of mind mapping plugins, which means I can choose one that isn't slop. 👍️ Not sure if any of them both use Markdown for data and let you drag nodes around to re-organize them.
Or I could just install a mindmap app. Could've sworn I had FreeMind or something already installed.
Still super depressed about work/career, but did manage to do some things.
I should really learn Dear IMGUI or something, as I have another idea for a tool I'd like to use.
On the other hand, I should just slog ahead with whatever is already available so I can Do The Things instead of putzing around with tools to help Do The Things. 🤷

So like, Linux goes AI slop. This is a big problem for me. I can't easily stop using Linux or stop updating Linux. A plan for getting off of Linux is going to take me months or years.
Firefox goes AI slop. This is a big problem for me. I can't easily stop using or updating Firefox. A plan for getting off of Firefox is going to take me months or years.
ScummVM goes AI slop. Do you have *any idea* how easy it would be for me to never use ScummVM for the rest of my life? Geez, it's out.
that is an attack angle i hadn't even considered yet, which i just learned is actually happening:
1. be scammer
2. advertise claude API access
3. route user requests to cheaper model
4. extract secrets from logs

Just imagine: video games that exhibit the same stunning performance and code quality we’ve seen in the Claude Code leak

brb running opus 5.5 on my fridge
(my fridge is not a smart fridge, no offense)
You know a tool is good and right-think when it's boosters have to come up with endless qualifiers on why errors aren't indications that the tool isn't ready or not a fit for the project given the scope and associated risk.
We're told it's inevitable by the fifteen weirdos making the decision to hold the world captive in order to enrich themselves.
...
These people are the literal real-world manifestation of the vampire overlord trope... We all _see_ that, right?
Stakes through the heart for all of them.
Well, that's perfectly inline with the AI-first mentality.
It's all they want at work.
"More, faster."
Yes, but the more we are generating is bad. It's more bad than it's been and we're making it faster.
"But is faster?"
Well, we're closing old tickets but opening a lot more for each ticket we close. Also... The robot can't figure out how to make good tickets so support is completely busy making ticket for us to _break_ things faster than before.
"Is faster. Do more."

just in case you didn’t know that “it’s only for code reviews, I don’t see the problem” is always bad faith horseshit: https://www.phoronix.com/news/Linus-Torvalds-Claude-Code
> Linux creator Linus Torvalds has been known to use AI to help with kernel debugging and outside of the kernel tree has also done some vibe coding with Google's Antigravity. He has previously said he views AI as a useful tool. It turns out he's even now using Claude Code for working on new Linux kernel features.
> "The code, the test programs, the review behind the list above and the first draft of this text were done with an LLM coding assistant (Claude Code) under my direction. The measurements were run on my machine."
so just a full vibe, done with the LLM that can’t make a web browser, C compiler, rsync features that aren’t riddled with bugs, or JavaScript runtime
this is the shit we were warning you about
was there a reason why you didn’t listen?
You need to reevaluate your priors. The fridges are so powerful now, and what was true of refrigeration a month ago simply isn’t now. If your fridge isn’t connected to the internet with a known admin password, and can’t heat up to 50°C you’re going to be left behind.

RE: https://cyberplace.social/@GossiTheDog/117429502412235079
This is the reality of cyber security. Vendors and corporations using their products get away with the dumbest shit imaginable, there's no effective regulation, governments are focused on threats only relevant to 1% of organisations and everyone is banging on about AI. FFS.
What language do you speak best? (Hypothesis: There are many French & German speakers in the Fediverse.)
:fediverse: Boosts appreciated!
I made a free pack of 20 matching UI sounds (click, hover, toggle, confirm, error, coin, reward, level up) plus a Godot 4 autoload: PulseLiteUI.wire_buttons(self) gives every button in a menu hover, click and on/off sounds.
All audio is synthesized from code, no recorded samples, no AI-generated audio. Free for commercial use, with a playable browser demo:

There's also a paid 200-sound version if you need more variations.
Yup....
More and more sites are having to set up defenses from AI bots. It is costly to provide online services and they were not built for bots.
One can say that the AI companies are performing a global denial of service attack, which incurs costs to all of their competitors, as well as the rest of the Internet, while their own services can afford to withstand that load. The service owners are forced to perform costly operations to defend them selves, but also make the services worse for the users.
This is anti-competitive.
