"If you share something: Don’t share posts without a source link. Don’t believe every quote without context: ask for the source! Become that little fact-checker." One of my media tips in https://steady.page/en/naturematchcuts/posts/6686318f-bcc4-488d-820b-2cf041a7096d

Especially today, I would like to cry it out loud. I read so much fake news on Mastodon today. Screenshots from fascist platforms, posts of aliases from there, no sources, no fact-checking. And people on Mastodon are not better than elsewhere: outrage posts get boosts automatically. 🙄

I was asked by several followers to write a How To that helps with media consumption in our difficult times. People want to know what they can do for their mental wellness - and against the blast of propaganda on major social media platforms. https://steady.page/en/naturematchcuts/posts/6686318f-bcc4-488d-820b-2cf041a7096d

I still have to find the link for that info on Mastodon, for Elena is on Mastodon @_elena (She has so many accounts that I often don't find the main one.)

"The United Nations has said it is watching "with concern" school protests in France that have resulted in thousands of youngsters being arrested and several seriously injured. We are following with concern incidents related to the student protests and high school blockades in France, some of which have turned violent," said Shabia Mantoo, spokesperson for the UN human rights agency, urging people on all sides to ensure they remain peaceful.

Question to the small 1 (!)-person-business like #artists in the #EU selling to different countries: Can you still handle it with the new EU #PPWR obligation to pay in *every* client's country for recycling organisms, not only in yours? https://environment.ec.europa.eu/topics/waste-and-recycling/packaging-waste_en

2/2 You know, bloggers live on breathing air and drinking coffee, so here's the place to give me one :blobcatcoffee: https://ko-fi.com/naturematchcuts

I was asked by several followers to write a How To that helps with media consumption in our difficult times. People want to know what they can do for their mental wellness - and against the blast of propaganda on major social media platforms.
I tried my best in short form: https://steady.page/en/naturematchcuts/posts/6686318f-bcc4-488d-820b-2cf041a7096d I know it has holes but didn't want to write a bachelor's thesis. 😉 1/2

🧵 Fortunately, the PPWR doesn't touch digital arts, so you can get at least my zines: https://ko-fi.com/naturematchcuts/shop

Disclaimer: Please don't abuse this thread for promoting your own projects or for trolling. I already feel bad.
And I can't install alternative paying methods (for that you need a plus). In the EU, Paypal has bank status with tough regulations.

🧵 I find it hard to ask for help. (I know that other people are struggling too. Not everyone can join in.)
But I’m really struggling at the moment while waiting for my pension decision. This could take months, and I’m relying on min. social welfare for now. Unfortunately, the bills won’t wait, energy costs have risen dramatically. At the same time, the new EU PPWR makes it impossible to sell my art (I couldn't afford the costs for PPWR). https://ko-fi.com/naturematchcuts/goal?g=8

If you are a woman and get ugly feelings while listening to the chauvinist song 'It's a Man's Man's Man's World', you are ready to follow @knud thread about patriarchy of the #NobelPrize. He counts.
And it's like James Brown 'forgetting' to pay royalties to his female co-author Betty J. Newsome: We'll often never hear about the great #womenInSTEM in the teams of the winners. Behind every discovery is a team of people.

BTW, the song is 60 yrs old.

Friendly reminder: I didn't meet my goal on ko-fi but some tough bills are due nevertheless: https://ko-fi.com/naturematchcuts
You can also give by buying one of my zines: https://ko-fi.com/naturematchcuts/shop or just donate for a coffee.

I know that you all hate Paypal but in the EU it has bank status with all obligations and regulations. And I can't afford other systems.

"AI, it turns out, is something like a cognitive version of a hot dog: It appeals to us in the moment, but undermines the health and sustainability of #cognitive systems we’ve evolved over several millennia."
Interesting article about neuroscience and why human brains are connected to bodies and landscapes. And "how AI weakens systems that we rely on to develop our cognition, for the benefit of convenience."

I just got a shock. I want the old design back!!! 😭
It was a matter of seconds, and the Design of #Mastodon changed.

Usually, I have nothing against design changes. But if it hits me so unprepared that I think my browser has a bug ...
A real bug is that I have to make an extra click for writing a post now and get a much too small pop up field down at the right (not at eye's height)! I have to search for notifications ... it's less intuitive than before.
