i think its a good addition, but also worried what this means for Nura in the future. i cant help but notice the hypocrisy between this proprietary sw and the ai policy tho

whoever thought of the name Evergreen [Linux] (would prefer if it was called EvergreenOS to come up in search engines) is a fucking genius
multiple meanings (atleast for me):
- evergreen trees usually grow on mountains (referring to alpine)
- green: envokes the idea of recycling and a nod to pmOS colors and roots
- evergreen trees are green all yr round… meaning we dont want to give up on old forgotten devices

pmOS: pinephonepro: update to linux 7.1
updated to a subset of megi’s linux kernel for the 7.1 kernel. report any breakage!
there are slightly less than 100 patches on top of mainline :)
im thinking of doing a scream test now. what that means is that the users on edge will be my guinea pigs (aka testers). mwahaha
any feature missing? pls report! i will be prioritizing upstreaming features people depend on rather than guessing if things still work

decided to try out convergence mode on the pinephonepro today. it honestly seemed like a great little machine
for 10 mins:
- played luanti on my external monitor
- charging the pinephone pro
- listened to music via headphones connected to the dock via a youtube video playing on the phone
- running btop
- keyboard and mouse working thru the dock too
- ethernet cable plugged into dock
decided to pick up the phone and ouch! was burning hot :/. otherwise, it can replace my 12 yr old laptop
postmarketos: surface-rt: takeover maintainership
turns out the surface-rt was archived. had no idea so decided to step up to maintaining that device too. seems like a lot of devices are archived

also might as well make this a thread about my surface-rt mainlining progress too
i think linux would benefit from a microkernel design. not just engineering wise but also politically
forking smaller userspace repos is much easier than forking the entire thing
#solar #electricity: is there a DC standard to use in homes instead of AC?
since solar panels and batteries are getting cheap, it seems like it makes sense to get rid of the inverter in all devices (only necessary for connecting to the grid)
i wonder if there would be a worldwide standard to DC systems in homes if its ever formalized
