@siracusa on the topic of where to house your external drives the 1st thing that came to mind as it first played out, especially later as the guys laughed about you keeping the pro in situ (which is exactly what I’d do as well), was why not detach the bottom most backplate & position them on the internal floor but then I realised that’s where the GPUs are kept! Maybe once you fully retire the pro or when running it has the fans could still work providing you give it an air gap?

@caseyliss on the vent seats option it seems like they only available in certain colours (black & mocha?) and they come without adjustable side bolsters. If the lack of adjustable bolsters is true it probably why so few are optioned this way. Extending @siracusa recommendation of testing them out I reckon you may want to see if you want seats without this - for me I’d want them so vent seats would be a no go.

@caseyliss i wish i was in America to buy your motor or better still you was in uk 😂 looking at the car sold stats it seems manual R’s is probably one of the most rarest ones going. You have a gem of a motor dude. My advice is to seriously think about a third motor because I’m confident you’ll have a car which will begin to appreciate in value. In U.K. Chris Harris cofounded collecting cars which is now worldwide & I can envisage yours getting a lot of attention if listed

@siracusa hey John got a Q around M Mac’s and running Windows - have you tried / use CrossOver or do you go via VM? For either, what’s performance like on your/Tina’s Mac Studio?

#askatp @atpfm what external optical drive do you all use? I missed out on getting the last SuperDrive due to lack of stock near me when Apple announced they discontinuing it.

Also I recall discussions around blu ray disks for backups. Do you use any software here or is it simply Finder execution?

#askatp @atpfm several Qs 😂 but at the heart of it, what are your predictions for the next MacBook role out?

Do you foresee Apple replacing the November event for the A18 Pro MacBook?

Will Q1 2026 be the M5 MacBook Pro?
And with the Air not announced with the Pros, will the MacBook Air be Q2 2026?

If you had the option of buying a MacBook Pro M4 Pro/Max at a discount of 10-12%, would you recommend that (especially in light of potential price increases due to tariffs)

@siracusa with recent talk around monitors, I thought I’d reignite your thoughts on the 4k OLED high refresh panels. I recall you mentioning preference for smaller monitor e.g. 27” (instead of what historically has predominantly been 32” plus). Have you looked into ASUS’s one here? https://rog.asus.com/uk/monitors/27-to-31-5-inches/rog-swift-oled-pg27ucdm/

@caseyliss little ATP follow up, here’s an article describing similar gross things you had experienced during your vacation and the grossness with Roku…the clip was one of the highlights for me for this particular episode 😅 cc. @marcoarment

This sentence here epitomises this:

“the easiest way to prevent harvested components from entering the parts stream is to destroy as many old devices as possible. That's why Apple's so-called "recycling" program _shreds_ any devices you turn over to them. When you trade in your old iPhone at an Apple Store, it is converted into immortal e-waste (no other major recycling program does this).”

I read about how Apples recycling / trade in process awhile ago & since refused to ever use them.

Hearing some great podcasters use em has always made me wanting to send feedback but it was hard for me to find an article to reference until now… this is a great article from @pluralistic describing how Apple ultimately care more about pleasing shareholders whilst applying greenwashing tactics on consumers during their keynote presentations re their “recycling”

@siracusa if Ivory didn’t exist, which mastodon iOS app (excluding Mac) you reckon you’d most likely settled on using? I appreciate none were optimal for you timeline preferences - more in terms of the general responsiveness of the app, aesthetics and general reliability.
