Me: trying to figure out why zellij performs like shit, takes up far to much RAM on my ARM system, and has sudden new half baked features that break previously fine behaviour.

I think one of the big issues with communicating on an asynchronous platform is that it functionally works on an entirely different track than talking to people in person. When you communicate with someone you try and express what you know and think — and they do the same — in a sort of ebb and flow of refining thoughts and opinions.
Where as here, especially here — crucially and I need people to understand this is very much a huge fediverse issue — you are forced to be the most eloquent and well spoken person possible. Because if you try and convey a nuanced thought in a way that tries to make a point sarcastically, being glib because someone is being a bit of an ass to you when you were just trying to add nuance, people only focus on that part. And others WILL BE taking that part only and arguing it further over the network.
I get why people leave this place, I am closer right now than I've ever been before. Not because I don't want to change my mind about something, not because I'm angry or upset, but because I'm tired of being one badly phrased sentence away from being today's villain.
Hi, I'm a person, like everyone else here. Not a punching bag to score points for your pet social issue. Please treat me like one, thanks.
Wee woo wee woo
I am longing to spend the night lying in a field with a beautiful person, we can stare at the stars and think about where life will take us together. I need some romance in my life, I've been too lonely this summer.
Made small roti kukus today! Little steamed sponge cakes made with 7-up equivalent (didn't forget about the boycotts). Made them three layered, bottom has chocolate, the middle is plain, and the top is pandan! Had one and they turned out good!
So, book readers of the fediverse: got any queer book (series) to recommend for reading this summer? Trying to get into reading a bit more again; bonus points for non (cis) white men authors. #Bookstodon #Books #QueerBooks
Tried to get some ingredients for an Indonesian steamed cake today, sadly the Asian market seems to close half an hour early on Tuesdays, oh well. I will come back tomorrow, got the other ingredients from the other supermarket in the mean time. Will post some pics when I make them!
Why the fuck would @iFixit — a company mostly leveraged on the idea that repairing is good for the environment and that the data on their website is fucking CORRECT — think it's a good idea to have an environmentally disastrous slop spewing word extruder on their website for people to use. Did you even ask the people that volunteered guides on your website if they were okay with their data being used in this way?
I am so sick of everything even vaguely positive online being tainted by the fascist nonsense machines. I used to be a very loyal customer for if I wanted repair tools or guides, but this is really pushing me to find alternatives. Please change course, this just seems like burning good will for absolutely nothing.
Listen, paramilitary organisations in global north countries grind you to dust and destroy your personhood when you work for them. But that's not the main reason they are bad! They are fascistic organisations that uphold colonialist states and their exploits in extractivism in the global south. They grind brown people to dust far more efficiently and as their main goals! That is the only reason you should need to not join them! And don't come at me with how you needed to "to survive" either, you cannot put your own existence over the systemic destruction of life, dignity, and other people as CONCEPTS and then say it was your only way out. I'd rather die than support inherent evil, maybe you should feel the same? At least don't brag about it...
I really love my cute cephalopod treasure hunter nails that @lexonomicon did for me :3, art in background by @emilychwiggy
Hello fedi, I am tutoring someone who needs to get better at English quick (6 weeks to get from basically nowhere to B1/B2 level). And I could do with some resources that are (verified) good for learning English quickly. I've already tried to send them a few simple podcasts and told them to use some flashcards for very basic vocabulary (since input is very hard if you have basically 0 vocab), but any resource y'all have would be nice to know about.
Hey anarchists, leftist, people that like building and maintaining community. I wrote a mini zine about community care and conflict management as a sort of springboard for people to work on this, and I have two books for the last page which is a list of reading recommendations, I have some good books on there like on Repentance and Repair and What Does Justice Look Like.
But I would like more than two! So if anyone has some suggestions (they can be from very different angles from this, and don't have to be books!) please send them my way! Boosts welcome.

I will make a thread of these to find them easier for me and hopefully others. My poetry that I will endeavor to write at least daily.
My brain wouldn't let me sleep before this one, so a third poem: Hidden
I feel more seen in the in between
than where night touches or the sun might gleam.
That's where we meet, in twilit dream,
as we drift slowly through this seam.
Like a mouse in the wall, hidden from view.
Living by creeds set by you, and me, and you.
We stick to grass, fresh as morning dew.
We watch the world roll by as morning comes,
the world awakes in bustle and in hums.
We slink away, leave nothing but crumbs.
We're sure mice will feast before those are seen.

Hello, my bank has blocked my credit and debit cards. They have said they will look at firther steps, I still have cash but I need help quick to survive. Any help is appreciated, please share. I do have a tutoring job lined up but we'll see how successful that is at actually getting me work since it's 0 hours, I hope it will. IBAN available at request too for EU peeps.

Another poem to keep me writing,
The title of this one is "a beetle":
A beetle gnaws the base of this dead tree,
I wonder if they know their own design.
When wood will creak and warp and crash all down,
will they fly off in fright of what was done?
The beetle, does it pride itself on this?
A huge behemoth felled by one so small.
If not I think I'll take this pride with me,
perhaps I can feel good about my own.
So let me be the beetle in life's wood,
as rotten and decayed as it may be.
Perhaps I can just gnaw through something huge,
and make some space for something beautiful.

I needed to make some poetry, this is Scars of Green:
A lush canopy of trees, the whistles of birds surrounding me, the soft loamy earth beneath my feet.
Soft hums break the silence of this place, a final bastion of green, and nature speaks through me.
This place, scar of green on land of grey skin, speaks of its own destruction;
Death comes naturally to life, but this death leaves no beauty behind.
Only green scars, stolen of its soul, destined to be alone.
An exorcism, untangling our interwoven spirit.
Thousands of years in the making.
Death by a malicious craft.
Decrepit roads of black,
they stretch ever more
forward to nothing
not even rest
not even
death
I will ask here because I feel like there might be enough literary nerds around. I need to read a good amount for an exam I need to do to get into university for the English subject.
I am looking for 1 book from before 1900 and one after (fiction, non fantasy) that will pass their "literary enough" sniff test, that preferably isn't written by a cishet white man. I was thinking Frankenstein at first—but I am guessing they categorize it as "fantasy" or a book with a movie—since she isn't on the definitely pre-approved list and I can't imagine missing her (which is strange because Douglas Adams, George Orwell, J.R.R Tolkien are, but I digress).
Virginia Woolf is so I think I'll read one of her books for post 1900, give me a suggestion for one to read (haven't read her at all).
But that leaves one pre-1900 novel, so feel free to suggest one for either.
