They claimed to have one job....

Per MSNBC: "Since the day Trump took office, 3.4 TRILLION dollars has been wiped out of the market"

It is unclear if this includes just the US Market, just the NYSE, or some combination of the many markets around the country or the world.

Interesting. The CDC and NIH being stopped from publishing daily bird flu updates has not, in fact, put more eggs back on store shelves.

Tagging @randahl on this post as it relates to his reporting.

So Bob Woodward is reporting that Trump has stayed in touch with Putin, including at least 7 direct person to person phone calls SINCE LEAVING OFFICE.

If Trump still has a security clearance, and is not currently acting in any official capacity, he MUST report these contacts or faces prison time.

Why the phone camera sees the aurora so much more vibrantly…

In dim light humans can sense light through the rods in the eye but not as much with the cones. Cones are color sensitive and rods are not. So in the dark we don’t see color well.

A phone camera uses sensors which are not subject to this limitation. #aurora

Happy May 1st.

As workers celebrate seizing the means of production,

and as Pagans celebrate the means of re-production,

I hope your day goes well.

The difference between your 20s and 50s...

Great fun came in the mail today.

My friend Tim Davis has created a game and had a first run manufactured. Barb and I will give it a try tomorrow.

While I have no idea what to expect from a "Lovecraftian Horror Game", knowing Tim I can be very confident that the maths and balance of play-ability will be extremely well considered.

True enough. No mossies.

Like, all the people who hated a female doctor and are giving shit about a black doctor just got the biggest official BBC "fuck off" in British history. #doctorwho

I know correlation is not causation, but the #patriots sucking started about when Kraft got busted for going to the Asian rub’n tug in Florida. Just saying. #nfl

Media update : the upcoming Giants vs Patriots game has been “flex scheduled” and will now air at 3am on Wednesday on the Home Shopping Network. #nfl #patriots #giants #NYGiants

If anyone is interested, this link is to real-time weather data from the sensor package on the end of my doc about 15 feet above the water on Hatchet Cove in mid-coastal Maine.

(Preparing for the pump guy to come this week)

I love how everyone keeps things neat by parking their boats facing the same way. <kidding, don't @ me>

Friendship, Maine harbor -- this is where your lobster dinner comes from.

Set up re-captcha v3 from Google on an old website I have that has been getting a lot of "contact form" spam. (scripted use of the contact for to dump shit in my inbox).

Since installing, I've had one correct use of the contact form (so I know it isn't borqued), and ZERO contact-form spams.

Interestingly, I've had zero reported fails according to the google dashboard. I suspect the scripts pick up the use of the captcha script and bail without attempting to get through.

I just finished @cstross 's latest book - "Season of Skulls" and I have to say, whatever he's been taking to combat Long Covid may be hallucinogenic. It was a fun read for sure, though a very long way from where the Laundry Files started.

Also, he's one of a very very small number of authors that can make me resort to the dictionary feature built into my kindle.
