Starbucks cannot make a caffeine free coffee to save their life.

It's always so bitter, I moved to 1/2 car and it's hit and miss if they burn it

@AdHusky They burn it because a machine does it, or they don't know that you're not supposed to boil coffee. I used to brew mine straight in a pot, and made sure that it would not go over 160-170 degrees or so. Technically that's similar to Turkish style, but they burn their coffee too. Anyway, it was delicious.

@baubau that makes a bit of sense but your think that there would be a decaf option to lower the temp. Bitter coffee is awful and I love bitter drinks

@AdHusky I've worked with those machines before, you just stick the thing in and it brews it lol

@baubau ah okay, which, obviously it does, but you'd figure it would be an option or something lol

@baubau @AdHusky almost all their beans are burnt to a crisp before you even talk about brewing them. Your right that brewing below boiling would be better to keep some of the more bitter compounds out of the cup (I go 83-85°C for dark roast typically), but there's gonna be so much more of that in dark roast anyway so you might be hosed lol. Starbucks roasts with the understanding that they're gonna put a bunch of cream and sugar in there so they just want strong roast flavors to come from the coffee.
