But hang on a minute. It seems you've been out-retired. The following says that the longest place names in 🇨🇦 are:
3. L’Annonciation-de-la-Bienheureuse-Vierge-Marie-de-Nazareth in Québec
2. Cape St. George-Petit Jardin-Grand Jardin-De Grau-Marches Point-Loretto in Newfoundland
1. Dysart, Dudley, Harcourt, Guilford, Harburn, Bruton, Havelock, Eyre and Clyde in Ontario.
#1 kind of feels like a cheat... 🤔

@TallSimon @shayman I agree #1 is cheating. "Dysart et al" is pretty obviously more than one place. Moreover, if we listed all nine Pubnico's in Nova Scotia, they would have more letters.

@NovaNaturalist @TallSimon #2 is kind of cheating, too. Mixing several small communities together and concatenating their names, whether separated by commas or hyphens, shouldn't really count.
now I want to see what it would take to be appointed to the Geographic Names Board of Canada.

You don't need an invitation to be on the names board. You just show up with a few other band members to the meeting and tell them that you're there to play the national anthem. 😁

@shayman @TallSimon just reading the list is fascinating. The Provincial representatives each appear to have completely different technical expertise - head of tax, GIS, heritage, planning...🤷‍♂️
