One of these days I'm going to get actual video of this but so far I end up laughing too hard to grab the phone at the right moment ...

My large round cat only has about 2" of her tail left. However, she seems to have zoomies attacks that involve a phantom tail phenomenon, and occasionally spins herself clear off a piece of furniture chasing her own stubby little butt in very fast circles.

@chriscz I have a little nagging bit of guilt over finding it funny, because there are times when she does seem to have some neurological consequences of her injury, like some discomforted grumbling and twitching or a tendency to nip if she's touched at the wrong moment. If there's truly a "phantom limb" phenomenon I've been told it can be uncomfortable.

But the zoomies don't come with any of the same signals, just damn silly cat having a romp and spinning herself dizzy.
