The problem with being autistic in a neurodivergent world is that autism is effectively a thought teleportation system.

We are sitting at Q and having a conversation about outcomes and mid sentence I can teleport to W and look of at X and then teleport back and barely miss a word.

So I say something about X, but it’s incongruent to the person I’m talking to because they didn’t travel there. And what’s more, they CAN’T travel there. Because to get there, they have to go through R, S, T, etc. At best, they can hop over U and go from T to V.

But autistics can just teleport. Like, we don’t even talk about all that other stuff because we don’t even need to think about it, much less see it.

And this causes a problem, because we’re standing at W looking around and NT people are explaining R and S to us like we don’t know it exists and then think WE are clueless for not thinking about it.

When you are talking to an autistic person about a topic and they say something confusing and incongruent, they probably thought teleported and are looking at a place you would have to travel to.

Or they are bonkers. Most of us are pretty fucking traumatized. I say stupid shit all the damn time and have a fucking Zelda tattoo.
