the explanation for the current WH press secretary leaving makes total sense. to their followers...
she's fulfilled her purpose as a woman. she's pregnant. she now just needs to take off her shoes and get into the kitchen, as the good lord intended.
not to mention that she can't risk the lightning strikes from all the lies she tells, now that there's also a child at risk.
so, the WH needs a new press secretary. wonder if they'll be honest about requirements:
- no political experience necessary
- job involves international travel, including as a decoy target
Kind of disturbing to hear people saying "this is the new normal" about the climate crisis. It isn't a new normal, because it will carry on getting hotter if we carry on using fossil fuels.
This "new normal" talking point seems to be the latest way fossil fuel companies are trying to avoid action 🤮

just got a bottle of steen's cane syrup, a LA staple.
a friend's mom had a recipe for taking a cookie sheet of bacon, coating it in brown sugar, steens syrup, and cinnamon and basically making cinnamon toast, except instead of bread, it's bacon.
i'll be trying a variant where you also put on pecans and cajun seasoning mix.
if i die, i'll die happy.
i use quesadillas kind of like omelettes or risottos. a great way to clean up small bits of stuff in the fridge. i've done them with smoked gouda/shallots/dried
cranberries, cheddar/peppers/spices, whatever.
today it's pizzadillas. mozzarella, bell peppers, sliced olives, with a marinara
dipping sauce.

how evenings go in our house. made a cocktail i hadn't tried before, a saturn:
saturn
1.5oz gin
0.75oz passion fruit syrup
0.5oz lemon juice
0.25oz orgeat
0.25oz falernum
lemon twist and cherry garnish
and then, this conversation with my partner ensued:
"what is this?"
<i give the name and list the ingredients>
"there's an orgy in there?"
me: "and passion"
"huh. pretty tasty... so this has an orgy in it?"
me: "no. or-gee-aht."
"so, it's a french orgy"
me: "sigh..."
a few minutes later, the passion fruit starts to separate out and float to the top.
me: "ah, of course. starts as an orgy and passion, ends with a separation"
"sigh..."

if they had their way, we'd be back to pullman era company stores, company supplied housing, and company schools...
the US tends to insanely large portions of food.
watching game and they zoomed in on a young kid with a bucket of popcorn as big as his head.
in the UK, where he's from, they put the bucket on their head and run for MP. ;)
