#WritersCoffeeClub Oct. 26: How did you develop your voice?

With practice. I usually start with the needs of the story, or the needs of a character. In the current series, the protagonist is the narrator and the story needed some form of impact, grittiness and cynicism, so it was easier to streamline as a quickshot voice, but also more creatively constraining, as it is only one voice. I compensated it by playing with the untold and/or unreliable, physicality, later with diegetic oddity (vol2)

Writing fiction is work. Being told "oh you're just writing your fantasies/neurosis/fears" is denial of said work.
We're not writing for ourselves, else we'd be journaling. We're writing to get to *you*, and that requires getting out of the self.

#WritersCoffeeClub 25th Oct ~ Tell us about inspiration from an unlikely source

The only "unlikely" thing in my case is having sources to write bara (because it features sex, people tend to just tell me that I write my fantasies, which is false *and* insulting), but some narrative elements actually come from many hours of interviews. I am sorry to say they were not the happy elements of the book, and that in the writing process, they were remixed to fit the story, but also *watered down*.

#WritersCoffeeClub 24/10: What is currently provisional in your workflow/work?

Every damn line, that's what editing and rewriting are! The workflow is pretty set at this point, each of us get to tailor it to our needs with time and experience, be it very methodical or more free flow-ish.

I'm a mixed bag. I set key points and build the bridges between them, leaving some space for surprises. I've had ideas that served the story better while diverging from what was originally planned.

#WritersCoffeeClub Oct. 23: How do you make sure you deliver on your writerly promises?

Erm, by writing. There's no way around it.

OMFG, the newsroom "Mediapart" has revealed that the government has been pressurizing Internal Intelligence into issuing fake reports blaming La France Insoumise (Mélenchon's party) for the protests.

What. A bunch. Of giants. Cunts.

Watching the current parliamentary session of questions to the government (ugh...)

First question to the prime minister by La France Insoumise (Mélenchon's party) = Answer from the internal security minister (the local minister of pigs) :

"I have my responsibility in designing the police response to the protests, BuT It'S StiLL tHe FaULt oF ThE LefT!" (the left isn't in power)

In French, we call that particular minister "Cuve à pisse" >>> "Piss cistern". It's well deserved.

Ending his term with the same, slithering strategy he used to manage the Yellow Jackets crisis of 2018.

A cunt through and through.

Faced with yesterday's events, Macron has adressed the country tonight.

- More mobilisation of the police, of internal intelligence.
- A tougher justice.
- Selective denial of the right to demonstrate via prefectoral authorities.
- Accusing the people of breaking the country.
- Lying about the means engaged to fix the problems.
- Being a total cunt.
- Still being a cunt.
- Oh wow, that was short.

So, basically, our manager called us on Teams to tell us to STFU "or else".

Fffffffffffffffffff that's awesome!!!!!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Moooon dieu, la couverture des manifestations d'aujourd'hui par les médias collabos est aussi pathétique qu'odieuse.

I really wish crafting wasn't a trend and is especially unnecessary in games like this. It's yet another menu to deal with. Instead of just rationing useable items, the game also rations unusable items that have to be combined to make them useable. There's literally no point and it makes little narrative sense in a game like this. I'm just glad the unusable items don't take up inventory space.

I think Condemned handled inventory the best by not having one. It only allows you to carry one weapon at a time and makes sure there's always enough in the environment to survive. You can still give players the ability to carry more without relying on inventory management to prevent them from having too many resources. Just make resources more scarce. I wonder if the inventory management feels necessary because of the inclusion of crafting, which is another unnecessary menu.

The limited inventory is made more frustrating by the fact it often locks you in small rooms which don't have enough resources to take care of the enemies flooding in. So you have to rely on what you have on you, which is barely anything and rarely enough for these bullet sponges. Also, there's a dodge button which is made almost entirely useless for the fact you're always in close quarters and are blocked by enemies and environmental geometry which is often outside the FOV.

It's clearly taking direction from modern RE, but modern RE isn't this restrictive on resources. Even if it was, that doesn't make inventory management anything other than another menu to constantly manage. I understand devs think this adds tension but the tension in a horror game shouldn't really come from a menu.

So, #HellraiserRevival is pretty good. Not exactly the kind of thing that spooks me, but Hellraiser never really was. However, how is aim assist this bad? It seems to actively fuck up headshots that it may have already lined up itself. I'd use a mouse but I'm on xbox. Also, breakable melee weapons that shatter after 3-5 whacks have always been annoying, but they're even more so with super limited inventory space and you need to keep two types on you because only blunt objects destroy armor.

My work situation has changed and I'm doing art again. I'll have something done soon for October but I'm dropping the funky kong comic for now since it's been so long I'm not really enthusiastic about it anymore. I might go back and re-do the whole thing at some point though. Anyway, I've been playing Hellraiser Revival for spooky month and I need to shout about it into the void so that'll be the rest of this thread.
