There was a period in my career where I wasn't as useful as an LLM. The only reason that isn't true now is because I had investment in my junior years and had the resources, mentoring, and space through those experiences to screw up and learn from my mistakes enough to eventually become senior level. I'm very worried about the state of our mentoring pipelines. Investing in LLMs instead of hiring juniors is tempting but also very short-sighted.
